I ran across a older M&P 15 AR-15, (not a sport) today at a pawn shop. 5.56 NATO. No box, or paperwork. It comes with one old Colt 30 round magazine. I would rate it above 90%. Does need a good cleaning. They are asking $590, plus tax. I offered them $500 out the door. They won't budge, on the price. What is a good price or it. I know they have come down, from about a year ago.

I've saw new ones for $799 and $15 shipping lately, so it's really up to you to decide if it's worth it. Personally with prices as low as they are, I would buy new unless I found a really good deal on a used one.

For not much more you could have new. Let them eat it. Go for new and a warranty. You could be buying someone's junk out of a pawn shop.

That would be my choice as well. For a few hundred more (or less) you get a new rifle with a warranty.

Bud's is selling Colt LE6920 $859 delivered. By the time you pay tax on the used M&P you'll be around $200 difference between a new Colt or a used M&P. They are the Magpul MOE camo versions.

S&W M&P15 Values?

I got it for $540 OTD. Is isn't the sport model. It has military spec. Flip sights. Looked them up. Original cost for them, is over $250. Think I got a pretty good deal for what it is.

Post a pic please... I'm curious as to what you bought. Doesn't sound like it is stock.

Since you bought it I don't quite see the point of comments to buy a new one :).

Also, I thought your post title asked if the M & P 15 used valves; I don't think there are any valves in the gas system but some models use pistons...

Enjoy your new gun!

Wow. It's obviously a typo. "Used values" was intended.

Some folks here either fail to read carefully or think a new Sport is worth more than any used Smith AR, as the OP has stated he hasn't determined the model # and that it came with expensive third party sights (Troy?).

He may have made an excellent choice.

Well, a new Sport can be argued as the better value vs. used for most of the lineup. Unless you are getting a VTAC II, Mid MOE, 15TS, or 15T...

Look at it this way,

Barrel... Same 4140 steel, same twist rate, Sport is Melonite treated, others are chrome lined

BCG... exact same across the lineup

Those two items right there make up the heart of the rifle.

Trigger group... same across the lineup outside of the high end

If you are getting much of the same features at the same price new vs. used, why buy used?
