Just got home from local shop. Paid and filled out paperwork on a brand new m&p 15t. Will be in the store on Wednesday and I should be able to pick it up next Saturday. Can't wait. Now time to dress it up.

Congratulations man!

Hopefully they didn't bend you over on the price...That's what the LGS's around here are doing if you find anything.

I don't think so. Not sure what the prices were before this whole craze was though.

MSRP on the 15T is around $1,160...The guy at the gun show week before last wanted $1,950 for a Sport. Bad thing is I think he sold it!

Unfortunately, due to the current political climate, it is a sellers market. I recently purchased a brand new MP15X. Did I pay a slight premium? Yes I did. I could have purchased numerous Bushmasters, DPMS, Stags or RRA's that I came across in my search locally but the asking price was even more than what I ended up paying for my Smith. Decided that if Im spending that kind of coin I was getting what I WANTED not what I could GET. Over the course of 2 months I ran across only one S&W AR and it was in the process of being bought. I love my rifle and have no regrets over what I paid for it. Even my FFL commented that I got it at a really good price all things considered. Congratulations on your purchase. Im positive it will be love at first bang!

Just got my mp15t about a month ago...i paid a little more than 1160, but it was THE particular AR that really attracted me...i didnt get it the cheapest, but im glad i got it...havent had playtime with her yet, but im hoping to take my little family of firearms to the farm this weekend to use ammo that i cant replace...lol

I got mine for 1150 so can't complain since that's right at msrp

Got mine before Dicks went crazy and dumped all the Sporting rifles. Listed at 1099,got 20% off for getting a Dicks card that day,$100 knocked off for the sale going on and walked out for under $800. That was way before all the "hoop-la" going on now. Picked up a Sport for a hair under that, that I had put on lay-away at my LGS and have a 15-X on order now.

With what's going on now,you guys did good. I've seen Sports over $1900 & "T"'s at $2380. Ain't no way I'd pay that.

Got mine last week for 1199 out of the box. Worth it in my mind. Really like the T...did a lot of research, it's the one I wanted.

That's why I grabbed mine (T) first. It was what I wanted, hadn't seen too many and the price was great. The Sport was a lucky stumble onto and put it on lay-away so I could hold that price.

What barrels are you getting with your "T's". Still figuring the barrel change out.

The 15T is still coming with the 1/8, 5R Melonite barrel. S&W told me this when I called, and if you look at the S&W website, the 15T still has the barrel specs listed where they removed the barrel specs for the Sport.

C4IGrant indicated that the 1/8 barrel was a production bottleneck, so I guess the price difference between the Sport and the 15T allows them to still make a decent margin on the T while they couldn't justify the higher costs for the same barrel to include it on the Sport.

It makes sense because prior to the craze, with some deal shopping, you could equip a Sport with the same features as the 15T for less than the retail price of the T.

You know that barrel has been a game-changer for S&W. I just hope the cutting back on the use of the barrel doesnt cause them to lose their market share. Other makers are using melonite barrels now so they really arent offering up that much different. Plus, if you can buy at MSRP, other manufacturers now have rifles priced as low, if not lower, than the Sport. Most of these come with a dust cover and forward assist. I just hope they arent making a poor marketing decision. You know trying to fix something that aint broke!!!!

Another VA member, Welcome to the forum, and that's not to bad a deal( considering the times) around here for a 15T. I paid $1125.00 for mine about a year ago.
As far as the barrel goes, I'm understanding of it is that Thompson firearms is the one actually making the barrels for S&W. I forget where I saw this at. Do I have wrong information on this? I have never really looked into that much. I just know for sure that my "T" shoots like a tack driver, if I do my part.
