I purchased an M&P 22 cal and notice it came with a wrench. Also, noticed the barrel had groves that the wrench fit. I tried to remove it but it fit tight and was afraid I was going to tear it up.

Do you know what the wrench is for? Thanks.

The wrench is to remove the threaded barrel cover in case you ever want get a $200 tax stamp for a suppressor for your M&P22.You can aslo get the suppressor adaptor, it helps keep the front of the slide cleaner when shooting a lot. The first 2 images are google pics. The last one is mine with the adadpter.

When you remove the thread cover on the barrel do you remove the sleeve when adding a threaded adapter? Or leave the sleeve on when adding an adapter?

Thanks awesome info and answer!!!

If you have a california compliant model, the barrel nut is most likely epoxied in place and not easily removed. My standard model mp22 barrel nut was easily removed.

When you took the barrel nut off to add a thread adapter did you also remove the sleeve? Or did you leave it and just add the adapter? Also I am not in Cali.
