Saw online the M&P 22 compact for $250 and was thinking about it, but have been seeing a lot of bad reviews/experiences regarding it.
So is it worth the price or should I pass? I know that .22 ammo is still hit n miss for pricing so, but maybe later down the road.
I have an MP9 FS, but can't convince myself to change from my XD-S 45 to the MP as my EDC.

Thanks for the input.
Tim.

Just where did you see a bad review or reviews on this new gun ?
I look all the time and haven't seen any bad words about it .

$250 is a smokin deal on this gun. MSRP is like $100 more.

I don't even see used full size versions (Walther/Umarex) for that cheap.

Could have been on "another" site, but that is why I came here for the truthful facts. I understand ppl will say anything if that particular brand is not their favorite.

Palmetto State Armory has it on clearance at $250, I assume that price won't last much past today.

I bought mine for $329 at a LGS. It shoots very well if I do my part. I've only shot standard velocity ammo through it so far. I didn't see any point in shooting high velocity ammo, other than saving a few nickles.

Mags are $32. I suppose magazines are priced high for now since they are needed in high demand new production pistols. If so then they should come down in price over time as supply catches up with demand.

The shorter sight radius does make it more difficult to shoot accurately. I get that it's not a target pistol. I got it as a trainer for my S&W Shield 9mm, and in that role it's just fine.

The threading is different from the full-size, so when they are available you'll have to drop another $40 on a thread adapter specific to that pistol.

I am struggling with this I have an SR22 which I believe is just about the same size and trying to question myself exactly why I need it?

As I have said in a few other posts, I am pretty sure I was the second person on this forum to have one... someone else had one before because there was a single review a poster referenced when I posted I had bought mine in August- this gun is awesome, really awesome.

I am not exactly sure what everyone else looks for in a gun but for me, this floats the boat. I think the biggest knock on it was , and this is a lol for me, it wasn't striker fired with no safety, so it was identical in basically all aspects to a regular M&P for practice in competition shooters. To me this a moot point; I do not compete nor care about striker vs. hammer... and the safety is a plus feature for me, not a minus.

The gun eats ammo like chicken chow mein and has improved with use, meaning it'll break-in for reliability and precision, not break-out after some use. It shoots more accurately than I can and for those who like this, you can adjust the rear sight (I tend to leave my sights alone) via the click-adjustable screw [in addition to drifting the front].

I initially bought a Nebo PROTEC Elite HP190 weapon light for mine- however, I believe the light is a micron too big and/or the M&P22C's pic rail a micron too short, as I could not get true purchase on the rail. This resorted on the light falling off 2-3 times during shooting, so I returned it. Now I do not consider this a fault at all of the light, as it didn't break or stop working or the switch fail etc. I put a LaserMax Genesis on it now, looks great, I think will make a great addition. I just didn't shoot it yet as I lost the dang adjustment allen wrench and nothing I had would fit, so I had to order another from LaserMax.. then I'll get back to putting rds. down range and see if I can't get a green laser to give me that loving feeling.

All in all, this is an awesome gun. This is just 5 mins of rambling typing, there are tons of stuff you could say praising this fine firearm, especially when you consider it's low price.

And $250 is almost stealing it- MSRP is $389.99 ... I got mine for $360 credit card (which is about $350 cash if you figure it) when it was just releasing on the market, and that was considered fair price.

$250 is almost unfair lol.

I just purchased one for the wife earlier this evening. Does anyone have a holster, or know what sizes fit it? It seems when I googled "m&p 22 compact holster", nothing really came up except from S&W themselves.

Looks like a nice pistol.
For those have one, how would this compare grip and size wise to the Shield?
This might make a great range trainer to go along with a Shield.
i know could compare the specs on Smith and Wesson site, but thought somebody may own both.

I'll own both as soon as my shipment comes in :-) if no one else has responded, I'll reply back then (might be ~3 weeks)

Edit:someone replied 32seconds before me :-)

It does not go into my Galco King Tuk for the Shield, FYI.

I am thinking about buying $19.99 Blackhawk holster from Walmart, it says it fits Glock 17/22, Smith and Wesson M&P, and most full size semi-autos, and it has a clip and belt loop I believe plus a spare mag pouch. I am thinking this is perfect ... As it's not like I am carrying this concealed for protection, I can use this at the range, in the yard, when I want to cut the grass w/ a pistol for snakes etc.

Not custom-tailored to a M&P22C but i am thinking it will suffice.

For those that have the Compact, have you tinkered with removing the mag safety or external safety yet? i took both of those off my M&P22 and will want to do the same with my compact when it arrives from PSA

I have a IWB holster designed for the Kahr CW9 and it is a perfect fit.

Fwiw, the safety on this Compact 22 is as good as or better than, in terms of function and click crispness, any thing in the M&P line to date. I don't mind having a thumb safety on what will ultimately be a range gun mostly, likely to be handed from shooter to shooter, etc.

To each his own though. Good luck with your mods.

My son had the blackhawk from Walmart for the Glock 19/23/32/36 and it fits his Mosquito and my Shield. It's what I use when I carry around the property because it's so much more comfortable then my IWB holster for my Shield. I'm hoping to buy the compact in a couple weeks and I'll test it on that too. If the Mosquito fits it, I'd assume the compact will as well.

The only one I could find in town was $359.00, the PSA deal was too good to pass up. Just completed my order, great deal thanks for sharing!
