Yeah it is my first Smith product in 20 years. It is ok but screams cheap
Plastic sights
Plastic trigger
Plastic spring caputure recoil rod
Concealed hammer ( cheaper that way )
Roll pins , not solid pins
Mag well has high hollow rails not solid rails
Bet the profit margin is huge on this one.
Well it will be another 25 years before I buy another if ever
Other than a concealed hammer, the rest could be said about a Glock, a XDm, or just about any other polymer handgun on the market. The M&P 22 compact just screams quality to me compared to many 22 pistols on the market.
That said, I just want to throw this out there. Federal bulk 22 is the worst garbage on the market at the moment. I (thought I) lucked out and got nearly 3k rounds of the automatch and walmart bulk several months ago but they are the first rounds that have given my 22 compact problems with fte's, ftf's etc. That stuff won't cycle reliably in either of my Marlin rifles, nor in a friends 10/22 or my Sig (GSG) 1911-22. My M&P has fewer issues with it than the rest of the guns, but that stuff is still junk. Everything else I have tried works great. I love this 22 compact.
