I'm thinking about a revolver for ccw and tried to find info in a search about this one, but couldn't find anything. The other I'm considering is the 442. I would think the recoil would be substancial on the 340(shooting .357's) compared to the 442. If you shoot .38's out of the .357 are there any cons?(loss of accuracy etc.) Any info would be appreciated.

The merits of the 442 as a CCW have been discussed in numerous other threads. It's a great pocket pistol, one of the best, if not the best. Any J-frame that can digest magnums is going to be a challenge with .357s. Most shooters (not all) will admit to substantial discomfort, often leading to putting away the magnum loads. If you can handle recoil, no worries. But 38s will make for better and more enjoyable practice time, easier mastery of your firearm, and more cost effective shooting.

340PD

My ccw is a 340pd which I believe is one of the best ccw's ever made (that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it). I carry it in my right front pocket in an Uncle Mike's holster. I have probably not shot a total of a dozen rounds of 357 through it. I practice with wad cutter 38's. Each time I have practice fired a magnum through the gun I developed a blister. I have small hands and notice the pain. 38 wadcutters I can shoot all day. Here's the deal though: I have fired the gun twice in duress--once with a big dog about to take a chunk out of me and once at a copperhead at my feet. Neither time did I notice the recoil nor get a blister. Now as a matter of practice, my first round in the cylinder is a 38 shot shell as it seems like I have had a snake problem lately. The gun weighs less than 16 oz. loaded with the Uncle Mikes. I can carry it all day. No snags when it comes out of the pocket.

Good luck whichever way you go. 5 rounds in my pockets are far superior to the 13 rounds sitting on the night stand at home.
