M & P 357 sig. ???

Anybody have or shot a M+P in 357 sig. I'm looking for something different and like the m+p line. Hows ammo availablity and price. opinions on this gun? Not much out there in this caliber unless you get a Sig sauer in 40s+w and change the barrel

M&P in .357 SIG

I have had one for about a year and a half now and love it. Ammo is expensive and uncommon, reloading components are expensive and uncommon, but its a .357 X 16 X 5 mags. The only problem I have with it is it won't shoot .38 Specials. I wonder about having a 9mm barrel fitted for it.

If you like the .357 SIG cartridge, you can't go wrong with the M&P pistol chambered for it. I have one and it's run like a champ from the time I took it out of the box till now. Not a single stoppage in the thousands of rounds I've had through it.

I did swap out the rear sight with a 10-8 brand U notch sight. The factory front white dot/U notch rear combo is very fast to get on target.

SIG sell pistols chambered in the .357 SIG. You don't have to buy a .40 S&W SIG and change out the barrel. It's their cartridge, the .357 SIG! Among others, Glock and H&K also make pistols chambered in .357 SIG.

I knew that Sig. had some models available but the one I love is the Equinox 226 so swapping the brl. would be ness.But the cost would easily be double that of an M+P. Thanks for the input

While you cannot shoot 38 spl in a 357 Sig, you can get a 40 S&W barrel. It is a nice combination.

I have a 40 caliber barrel for my Glock 32 and it is added feature.

I have had my M&P 357Sig for about 6months. I have a Crimson Trace laser grip and it is my daily carry piece. I have full confidence that it will put a stop to a threat very quickly. It is very controlable as far as I am concerned but I practice from time to time and I am 6'5" 285lbs., so that helps a little.

I have one and can't say anything bad about the gun except for the trigger, and it is rather LOUD! My trigger is stock and is getting better on its own - slowly.

The gun and barrel seem to be very accurate. When I can concentrate my way through the trigger pull, it shoots right with my P229. With ordinary old Remington 125 gr. FMJ either gun shoots better than most of my .45 Autos, or just as well. Both are great shooters.

The gun has night sights. They required just a slight tap to the right to bring it to bear. S&B has a heavier bullet load, maybe 145-147 grains? This load shoots well, but will print 3-4 inches higher at 25 yards - a little more than I like.

I have not reloaded much for it yet but have tried a few loads with Berry plated bullets and HS-6. No unpleasant surprises, but my first loads have barely been over 1100 FPS, IIRC. They can be stepped up, but since they have shot well enough and function the gun without problems, it might not be either wise or necessary, for practice ammunition.

All in all, it is nice gun and probably has the precision necessary for some field shooting, but managing that trigger is not an easy thing for an old revolver & 1911 guy. If I could find a M&P357L, like my M&P9L, I would probably sell the standard gun to buy one of those, but doubt one will ever come along.

I shot the m&p 40 and .357 sig. the sig a produces little more recoil
and more muzzle flash also ammo is not quite as common as the .40
The .40 is just as accurate and ammo is a little cheaper.
I bought the .40, however you can switch out the barrel to fit the .357
The mags are the same. The m&p is a great pistol you won't be disappointed.

I have M&Ps in 9mm and 40S&W and a compact and full-size in each caliber. So, with four M&Ps you know where I stand on them.
I was a great fan of the 357SIG and had 3 pistols in that caliber. They're all gone. I got tired of the cost and availability of the round. The effectiveness of the round over 40S&W isn't great enough to make it worthwhile. Plus, when a new pistol comes out, 357SIG is always the last caliber to hit the street.
