I am a new owner of a M&P 40 and I am curious about the date it was manufactured. The serial number is DVF1750. Any help on this would be appreciated.

I am also curious about a source for quality magazines.

Thanks!

Is there anyway to tell what year it was made? I picked up one at a gun show. It is in nice shape but wanted to find out what year it was..Keith

If you have the original box with the UPC symbol on the outside, below the SKU is a 4 digit production code. First digit represents year of manufacture, last 3 digits indicate the day of the year.

e.g. "9243" on my pistol indicates 2009, August 31 production date, which matches the test fire casing date exactly.

If you don't have the box or UPC sticker, the test fire casing included with most pistols should have a date stamp on it. Short of that, you'll have to index by finding other people with a S/N around yours. :(

Hope that helps.

PS +1 for Greg Cote to buy mags... great guy to work with!

That is a great help. My number below the SKU is 0334. That corresponds to Nov 30, 2010 which happens to be the exact date of my test fire casing.

Thank you very much. Your help is appreciated.
:)

BTW I will check out Greg Cote

If the spent casing is required by the state, the FFL dealer who sells the gun will send the casing to the state. No reason to be concerned, unless you leave your empty shell casings at the scene of a crime.
