M&P 40C EDC what Vortex red dot ?

Priced getting mine milled today. $150. The place is about 25 miles from me so I won't pay shipping. I have the mount ordered to fit the rear slot from EGW and will try that first. Don

I wish I knew someone near that I could mill my slide . I'ill have to ship my slide to EATi . I understand they do a great job .

Price and the size of the dot. I have a 3 MOA dot on most of my red dots.

Personally I like look DeltaPoint Leopold but they do not manufactured any longer. They new upgraded model which is fine but I haven't had a chance to buy or trying it yet. I have a Burris Fast Fire lll on my S&W M&P Core, .40 S&W cal.,it Rocks. Also have a Trijicon new with always on on my Glock 34, works fine. My original one was the first delta point that came out when Leopold first introduced them with a 3.0 Moa dot. It's on my colt 1911 government customize race gun in 9 mm and shoots like a wizard, awesomely accurate and dead on. Was originally chamber .38 super ,revamp that a couple years back to 9 mm. Bottom line is you get what you pay for!��

Just talked with Vortex today as I had the same question. Here is what I learned. 1. Razor is old tech, and large. 2. Venom and Viper are new tech, but different. 3. Venom has battery change on top, but is a bigger sight. 4. Viper has battery change underneath (removal necessary) but is smaller. 5. Only Viper co-witnesses with CORE sights. Hope this helps....

Adding a red dot to your EDC is most often not approved for a LEO in any agency I know. Ask your District Attorney, their answer will likely be not to do it. As a private citizen, a red dot on your gun would give the D.A. the "malice aforethought" angle if you ever needed to use it. Red dots are fine for home defense and the range, but not for EDC.

I don't get it. Are you preparing for a long range gun fight?

All my carry guns have crimson trace. Both eyes open, focus on the target not the sights, shoot one handed, either hand and easily keep rounds within minute of bad guy. Grip the gun, light goes on.

First let me preface my comments by saying I AM NOT a Gabe Suarez "fan boy".
I do however believe in giving credit where credit is due and Gabe has spent A LOT of trigger time with red dot edc pistols and it might benefit anyone considering a red dot edc pistol to take a look at his book Red Dot Combat Pistols (currently being offered for a free download to registered WT members).

The "book" is mostly a collection of his blog posts. It is sprinkled with garbage like "More likely, the speaker is too bulky to actually carry a pistol in the waist to begin with" that makes it difficult to take him seriously and kills any desire to purchase his products or services. The seek the irons to find the dot idea sounds good for those with extensive iron sight experience, but he completely ignores anyone who doesn't have that experience. What if someone goes from a .22 with a scope to an RDS fighting pistol? It does have some useful tips scattered through it.

I also have an RM07. The buttons on the side are one thing I don't like about it. I can feel them every time I rack the slide. Turning it off accidentally is essentially impossible because they have to be held down, but messing up the brightness is a possibility. The + and - buttons are backwards too. Mine broke and had to go back to Trijicon as well.

An RDS is faster and more accurate in rapid fire than irons and doesn't require an optical focus at the end of the gun. It is also a great big slide-racker for one-handed manipulation.

Incapacitation requires minute-of-bad-guy's-vital-organs accuracy so minute-of-bad-guy is too sloppy unless you get lucky.

I had a discussion with an assistant county attorney about lasers and red dots, last year. He said that "if they are shown to be properly sighted, a defense of your being less likely to hit innocent bystanders with the addition of these devices would be an admissible defense and probably a very good one".

For the reason you stated , I don't understand why Law Enforcement agencies do not use them .
