Is there anyway to minimize the trigger initial take up? It feels like my M&P, first edition - 10 years old, has about 1/16". Growing up shooting revolvers this take up is unacceptable.

Well, you don't have to deal with a DA pull in a striker fired pistol. :)

Does yours have a manual safety?

How much take up do you expect to have? 1/16" isn't much.

That really isn't much take up at all, and in a striker fired pistol, the take up is there for a reason. Practice with it and learn to shoot from the reset. You'd be amazed how fast and smooth you can shoot. If the take up is just something you can't work with, then your one option is to install an Apex trigger kit. Good luck and good shooting.

Both of my full size M&P's have an excessive trigger take-up. It does feel strange when target shooting. Yeah.... I know, they're not target pistols. I'd imagine an aftermarket trigger assembly would correct this, but I'm fine with the factory's for now.

I'm considering getting the Apex DCAEK with all the goodies for my M&P 9 1.0. I love the pistol but it's frustrating to shoot due to the trigger. I probably have 1500 rounds through it and I've never hated the trigger, but I don't love the trigger either.

I don't want to give up on the M&P, so I figure an APEX kit can't make it any worse. I just don't expect a dramatic night & day difference. An Apex sear block smoothed and lightened my Shield's trigger, which helped me be more accurate with it.
