OK...

I would like to purchase a M&P 9 FS with:

Mag disconnect
NO thumb safety
NO internal lock
High cap mags
Standard trigger pull weight

I've looked at SKU#'s on SW's website and could not find this particular configuration. I did find some SKUs on this forum that meet my needs.

SKU# 309601

But that is an LE version pistol!

Can anyone help me out and point me in the right direction? Can a dealer sell me an LE pistol? I wouldnt think so...

Should not be a problem, what state do you live in? I have a MP 45 FS, has everything you stated with exception of Hi Cap Mags.

In Cali, our politicians stamped out crime by not allowing mags that hold more then 10 rounds. LoL...

I thought that the MP 9 came standard with Hi Caps if they were allowed in your state.

Best

High caps is not the problem. I live in WA state and high cap mags are plentiful.

My issue is I want a pistol WITH MAG DISCONNECT and all those options I stated above.

There should be no reason why you can't buy the LE model if that's what you're seeing, unless your state somehow prohibits some part of that mix, and/or your dealer choice won't ship it for some reason.

(There are some goofy rules for Toledo OH, for example, that lock it out of all kinds of stuff when dealing with conscientious dealers. Unfortunately, the Ohio Supreme Court just struck those rules down, but not everybody knows it :( ....)

Since the Clinton infringement died in 2004, there's no such thing as "LE Only" in most cases.

Worst case is that you can buy what you want without the mag safety and then scrounge the two parts (a lever and spring) that are required to insert it into a standard sear block assembly. The different spring is needed because it serves as a spacer to keep the disassembly lever from flopping around, and there will now be two levers on that pin. (Two springs, too, I think....) The good news is that you can probably fudge that spring from about any source - a ball point pen spring, cut down, or, I'm told, a mag release spring from a 1911....

"High Cap"? The "standard" for the 9FS is something like sixteen rounds. Is that what you're talking about, or something bigger?

Regards,

So you think I should be able to buy an LE version? Is so that would be perfect. Yes high cap mags are 17 rds

Nope. That model has the internal lock...dont want that.

Nope. That model has NO mag saftey. I want the version WITH THE MAG SAFE.

SMMA is on the same page as I am. All I want is a pistol with NO white caution letters on the slide (this is the model WITH the mag safety). I am then going to take the mag saftey out of the pistol with a simple drop in spring.

Does anyone know how to get ahold of a M&P Sales Rep in my area/region? I live in eastern Washington. I've tried to contact S&W directly and all those guys do is read information off the website.

Is that because you just don't like the lettering on the slide?

Whoops misread that part, I was thinking you were looking for no mag safety and no thumb safety. Sorry

It is annoying, I admit...but at least S&W doesn't put their entire owner's manual on the frame like Ruger does!

Very true! I've read that the LE models have no caution writing on the slide. I'm still wondering if there is any way I can purchase an LE gun without being a LEO.

Warning gun may not be loud enough to wake your neighbors, I would much rather have a gun with the features I need than worry about lettering.

You should be able to find that LE model.... I've no idea how, though.... I'm a semi-retired rent-a-cop, among other things, but the store that gave me LE discounts is long gone, and the two I usually deal with of late just laugh a lot.... :D

I don't blame you about the lettering.... Silly.... But I don't care myself. If you can find one with the Hilary Lock that otherwise satisfies your needs (don't forget that you can always buy the larger magazines and peddle the 10's), removing the lock is pretty trivial. You can get a plug for the hole from S&W. (I don't believe that any of the frames are made without the hole. You can also pull a thumb safety in a couple minutes, but there are two rectangular cutouts in the frame that you're going to be stuck with. I don't know whether they cut those out as needed for production, or use a plugged mold.

BTW, it's "Stu".... "SMM Associates" is my business. Many years ago, I had to put an underscore in there for e-mail purposes, and found that clients just didn't know what that meant. So I just stuck 'em together.... Now that a space is possible, most of the time, I haven't bothered with it. Sometimes you're ahead of the curve :D....

Regards,

I don't know where to get one then.

Tell you what you could do, go to Express Police and order the M&P .40 they are selling for $398. Then drop in a $66 factory 9mm barrel and have two guns for the price of one.

The model they sell over there has a mag safety. I know because I just got two of them.... :D
