I just bought a M&P 9mm today and when I got home i noticed that there was a small gap between the silde (upper) and frame (lower) part of my firearm. I can see light coming through from the other side. I have not fired it yet and I was wondering if anyone else has this "issue".

Thanks in advance!

That's the way they were designed so no worries there. Welcome from Wisconsin & to the M&P fraternity!

My M&P40FS has the "gap". The pistol works just fine.

My FS9 has a noticeable gap... I'm a new gun owner, but have put about 300 rounds through it with zero issues. Very happy with my M&P.

Looking forward to some range time this weekend!

I'm a first-time gun owner and a new forum member. I just did my first field strip and clean , and when I re-assembled the gun, I noticed this. i hadn't ever before and I was worried.

I'm happy I have this forum as a resource. I was very nervous about doing this myself without instruction, so I'm glad this thread was here!

Welcome to the forum. I have a 9Fs, 40 pro series 4.25", 45 midsize, 357 sig FS, 22FS, and 9 Shield. I can see light through them all, and have never had a malfunction in either one. Enjoy your new firearm!

If you want to REALLY freak out, have a look at the business end. I'm happy with my full-size M&P 9, but the thing looks more slack-jawed than my childhood neighbors in Kentucky...
