Hello,
I'm looking locally at a MP 9 CORE item# 178058 and have a question as to whether or not a sight that I already have will fit on it. It's a Viper Red Dot VRD-6 with a Weaver/Picatinny mount. It's a low profile site and says on the box that it's for guns with the cutout slides. I had it on another gun and liked it but decided to go in another direction for that pistol. I've tried contacting S&W with several emails and haven't received any relies yet. I did try calling but couldn't get through. Any advice/information that you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Hopefully someone here can provide their experience on whether or not this sight can go on this pistol.
Thanks Halvenut

If you can remove the weaver/picatinny mount, like I can from my VortexVenom, it will fit on one of the plates included with the CORE.

First of all, the CORE is specifically designed to eliminate the need for rails. Have you had the pistol in your hands. The plate in front of the rear sight is removed and various red dots can be mounted. The gun normally comes with a bag of mounting plates that are specific to each of several different red dot sights. The owners manual explains everything. If you are not getting the whole package from the seller walk away if he can't produce them.

You should be able to go online and download the owners manual.

Good luck.

The pistol originally came with multiple plates and a chart advising which plate to use with which sight. Unless your sight has the same footprint as one listed on that chart, you're taking a gamble. Without the plates included, it would have to be a really good deal.

I have one in 9 m/m that initially wasn't very accurate. I installed an Apex barrel and now it's extremely accurate.

Mine is the Vortex Viper and it does separate from the mount. I had it on a 1911 previously and had to purchase a mount that replaced the rear site. It mounted to that mount with two screws that went through the bottom of the site. I've not had the gun in hand yet but was told that all of the plates come with it. I just want to be somewhat sure before I move forward in purchasing the pistol. I want to be able to use the site and don't want to have to put more into the gun if I don't have to.

I did the same thing, they would not send them for free. Was something like $50.

Must depend on the CS person spoken with.
