How often is it advised to strip and clean this pistol? Currently I have approximately 250 rounds through my shield 40. My other gun is a mod 27 and easy to clean.
Thank You

...same say after every range trip.
I've not been to the range in a while, I should probably give my M&P Shield 9mm a clean anyway.

I clean mine after every range trip. Doesn't take long and it's done.

Me too. Clean pistol is a happy pistol. :)

Seriously though, I have a problem putting equipment away that has not been properly taken care of; i.e. cleaned, lubed and carefully reassembled. Guess it's a disease I caught from my dad.

Depends on how soon I plan on shooting again. If it's longer than a week or two, it gets cleaned. If it's a SD pistol, it gets cleaned before it get carried again, even if I only fired a single shot.

I usually strip and clean after every range trip as well. But, I shoot fairly often. Also, I live in a fairly humid environment. So, I frequently check, clean, and apply a thin coat of oil to all my firearms; even if I don't shoot them.

Since these are duty type of guns and using non corrosive ammo, they will likely run fine even when dirty from shooting them a lot and not suffer too much from neglect.

I take the slide off and do a quick wipe down cleaning after most outings and run a few wet/dry patches through the barrel.

I break the slide down further and clean the striker channel and other bits in the slide once when new and when I am shooting it regularly will do it again every six months or so. How often I do this depends on how much and how often I am shooting it.

I clean them after every range trip. The only exception is if I know I'll be going back to shoot again in the next day or two. Then I'll wait.

I usually grab one & clean it when the daughter's boyfriend comes over to visit.

Funny. Done that myself.

If the kid's a firearm enthusiast, you can usually get them to forget about the date. Then you can take them shooting to find out if they meet your minimum specifications for son-in-laws.

I clean mine after about 200 rds mostly powder deposits I use plated bullets so lead is not much of a problem

Funny the only time I used to see my dad clean his 12 gauge is when my sister came home with a boy friend, he did it sitting on the couch in the parlor , yes it was that long ago

when my sis brought a boy home the first time, it was my mom who would point out all the boxing (golden gloves) trophies dad had which were strategically placed behind where they'd sit. Different approach same effect lol.

back on track, i tend to clean my 9c after every range trip even if i only run 50-100 rounds thru it. As i also clean my Buckmark (usually 200+ rounds each visit) i figure may as well clean both while the stuff is laid out. Actually a 'chore' i dont mind doing at all.
