M&P Ejector Rods

A simple question. Why do so many call an extractor rod an ejector rod? The S&W revolver parts lists call it an extractor rod. So which nomenclature is correct? (I have always called it an extractor rod because it is attached to the extractor star)

Good question. I don't know, I use extractor. I can speculate though.

Everyone on this forum has some degree of interest in S&W firearms which varies greatly from casual to passionate. Those on the casual level communicate well enough to be understood. Those on the passionate level find satisfaction in researching, knowing and using S&W authentic language. That also has an added benefit of passing on the knowledge/passion to those who want to know as much as they can. And every level in between those two extremes.
So there's no one-size-fits-all and members are free to participate at any level they like.

And just to throw more mud in the water, sometime in about the early sixties when the thread direction on the e-rod was changed. You can tell the later rod at a glance as there is a relief ring cut between the knurling and the rest of the rod. Always happy to stir things up a bit!
