as I continue to decide whether to shoot a semi auto, as I am only shooting revolvers now...the M2.0 sounds interesting....4" barrel, 15 round magazine....9mm

I would want to be able to use as carry gun.

can you guys give opinions...and also any other recommendations for semi auto.
thanks, Creekman

Carries just like a Glock 19. I prefer it to my 19.

I also carry the M&P 9c like Bozz10mm and very much like it. It would give you more capacity over your revolver and much faster reloads if needed.

And what is the wise saying "Better to have it and not need it then want it when you need it"

The 2.0 compact is a bigger and heavier gun than the 642. When fully loaded a 2.0 compact is going to weigh about twice what your 642 does. I like my 2.0 compact but it is heavier than I want to carry on a regular basis. Before you buy a compact take a look at the Shield. More rounds than you have now, easier to carry and 9mm is more effective than 38. It is about $140 less expensive than the compact too.

I know a lot of people find the 2.0 compact to be the ideal size for carry. But a lot of us don't and carry something smaller. I view my 2.0 compact as a range and home defense gun I have an option to carry on the rare occasions I want something with more rounds than my Glock 43. The problem is more the weight than the bulk of the larger gun. With a Glock 43/Shield size gun I can get by with a comfortable belt, Glock 19/Compact 2.0 guns require a "good stiff gun belt" which tend to dig into the small of my back while sitting and get pretty uncomfortable.

I love my 2.0 Compact 9mm, it is great to have at the house and to take to the range, but I carry my Shield 45 since it is quite a bit smaller.

Recently purchased the Compact 2.0 you are referring to. I prefer over my G19 which I carried for many years. Also have a Shield in 9mm, but only carry a sub-compact when I HAVE to. 130 rounds thru the Compact, but at the early stages its been perfect. Hope it continues, as I love it as a carry gun.

These are the typical features of more pistols than i can think of right now, what exactly is "interesting" or unique about it?
Almost any popular brand has pistols with the same basic characteristics, and they'll all do as well, or better. There's HK,Walther,Glock, Sig, CZ, Ruger, Springfield, as well as various S&W's (to name just a few).
Pick one, then type it in to Google and You-tube. You'll get more details and reviews than you could hope for.

If you do a maggut upgrade on Shield 9 you can get a +1 , so technically 9 +1 or 8 + 1 using a stock mag configuration . Have used my magguts system (old style and updated z spring) so far no bobbles. Both with ball and HP .

Yes! Planning on a Shield 9 2.0 with magguts! Great Combo!

Anyone have a guess how long it will take for S&W to offer Dark Earth colored Frames, and/or Performance center versions with the fiber optic sights? I'd buy today! But willing to wait 6 months if necessary.

I would say you'd be more likely to be able to comfortably carry the Shield concealed than the Compact M2.0. My Shield is my EDC, and I also have the full size M&P that I have carried concealed, but it is really a bit large for CC. So I prefer to carry it open or for home defense. That Compact M2.0 is only slightly smaller than the full size, and in fact will take the full size 17 round mags with the two spacers provided as part of the Compact M2.0 package.

I love my Compacts (1.0 and 2.0). I also love my Shield. They are different beasts. I prefer to carry the Compacts because of the bigger grips which fit my hand better (and help me shoot better) than my Shield . I'm an average size guy, so concealment (with proper holster and belt) is not an issue. With the right equipment, I don't find the larger size any less comfortable to carry, and since I shoot the bigger frames better, there's no reason not to carry it. You should really find a way to test them yourself though.

If the 2.0 compact is a little too large and heavy consider a 1.0 compact. I like mine enough that I have no real interest in a 2.0 compact.

The 2.0 Compact to me is better ccw than the Shield. Why carry a limited Capacity pistol such as the Shield even with your plus one extension when you can carry the compacts 1.0 or 2.0 just as easy. The Shield is too big for pocket carry. The 2.0 Compact is my choice.Between it and a Shield. But what the heck I may carry my full-size 1911 tomorrow.
