Both sears appear to be identical shape. Is the Apex sear polished?

No it's not an apex sear I just installed an apex AEK trigger

I think it's meant to help keep the trigger bar in line.

Call APEX. I've heard good things about their customer service. I have an APEX FRE extractor and APEX sear in my M&P 9c (not M2.0) which solved a brass-to-face problem that S&W could not fix. I have much more faith in APEX than I do in S&W. I still have my stock trigger and its action and pull is much better now than when it was stock. It is smooth, slightly less pull and more audible than before.
I love my pistol but I'm done with S&W's service.

Well to confuse things more, the sears from my 2013 "vintage" FS9 and 9c are stamped "3". (sorry for the low qual image).
Both have the larger sear plunger diam (1/8").

My FS now sports the S&W PC sear, with an 5" core slide.

So my guess is the #2 is from the earlier models, possibly from the internal lock generation. The #4 from came with your SHB so it has the latest.

What year is your 9C?
