M&P Sheild slide will not lock back

We have an M&P Shield (Performance Center) in our store that will not slide lock. Slide will not travel back far enough to allow operation of the take down lever. Any help would be appreciated.

So the slide wont go far enough to even allow the slide stop to engage? Is the gun new or used? That may not matter just thought I'd ask it.

Gun is used, we took it in on trade. Slide lock lever will not move, seems to be stuck in down position

We field stripped to let a customer look down the barrel. After re-assembly this happened.

How is this the recoil spring? I would think the slide stop spring (or whatever it's called), or possibly a problem with a mag follower not catching the slide stop.

Problem solved. I guess I did not have the right look on my face. I messed with it a little and got it back apart and together properly. I believe I did not have the hammer release lever on inside positioned properly.
