Saw a M&P Shield 9mm at local shop this weekend and it was a new smaller cardboard box, anyone else seen this?

Yep, cardboard box. They figured you would be wearing it all the time so you wouldn't need a nice case. :)

Sign of the times I guess....probably saves them 100's of thousands (if not more) per year over cost of plastic cases. Wondering, does anyone know if any other NEW S&W pistols other than Shield come in cardboard rather than plastic box?

I bought a new M&P 40 Pro Series last month. It came in the plastic box.

Plastics boxes and cardboard ones just take up space in my closet

as do the bodyguards and cheaper revolvers....... its a price point thing, seems to be anything >$500 retail gets a plastic case....

Oops I should have said MSRP.... I have seen shields inflated but the -fair- price is around $450.........
