Hello,

Anyone that has a BG380 as well as a M&P Shield could you tell me if the Shield has a long trigger like the BG380 has? The 380 is so long for me it forces me to shoot low.

How does the Shield's trigger compare to the Glocks & Springfield XDS? I'd like the USA made Shield but if the trigger is like the BG380 I think I'd pass.

Thanks

I have both, and the Shield trigger is nothing like the BG. It is much shorter than the BG. Some people say their Shield is not smooth, but mine is smooth as silk. See if you can dry fire one at a LGS. That is the best way to see if it will work for you.

I've got a couple hundred rounds through my 9mm Shield now. I was planning on upgrading the trigger but at this point am sticking with the stock trigger. It is nice and smooth. It is no where as long as the BG. My Galloway trigger kit for that came in the mail today.

550 rounds through my 9MM Shield so far. The trigger and action are getting smoother and better. Initially I was determined to install the APEX DCAEK, but I'm having second thoughts. I'm gonna put another 500 rounds down range and reevaluate. Very accurate shooter so far!

There's no comparing the BG380 and the Shield.
The BG is a true DAO, while the Shield is Striker Fire. Two completely different trigger systems.

I have the shield 9mm and find the stock trigger to be great for me. I only have 150 rounds through mine but it is very accurate. I would compare the trigger to that of my Glock 27. The shield at this time is not as smooth as the Glock but that gun has easily 3k rounds through it. The Shield has a nice sharp break and short reset. I never owned a BG380 but my Shield has a very nice striker fired trigger. I am sure you will like it as well, especially if you've shot any Glock pistol. Good Luck.

Just a thought on the Galloway trigger kit. It's great but you need to install the hammer spring with it and if you can get the rear sight out the springs in there as well. Once you put the new trigger bar in, you'll get misfires, something the BG is noted for but you don't want to be the cause of it. With their stronger hammer spring, it will make up for the shorter travel of the hammer and take care of it's caused misfires. Hichkok did a video on the trigger kit but didn't replace the hammer spring and did get misfires. Unfortunately he didn't make reference he didn't do the spring even after finding out why he had the misfires.

Also note the rear sight needs to come out one way. It's very difficult to get out. I had to use a sight pusher to get it out. There are videos out there for all of this.

I have both also. As mentioned above there is no comparison. The trigger on the shield blows away the BG. Much smoother and shorter!!! I would buy another shield in a heartbeat.

As far as comparing the Shield to the XDS, I know Hickok45 does a video on youtube, as do a few others. Personally, I love my trigger on my Shield.

I don't think that the Shield triggers are all the same, though. I tried 3 different ones when I bought mine and they were all different.

I have a Shield 40 and the trigger was very smooth out of the box and it is even smoother now.

I just bought a Shield 9 for my wife (because she was trying to take control on mine!) and it's trigger is a little bit "gritty" and not anywhere close to mine. But, I think that it will also smooth out after some use.

I had a xds 9mm and bought a shield a month ago. I just sold the xds. The trigger was fine on the xds. I found the gun to be top heavy. The shield just feels more balanced and had been a more accurate gun for me
