I have been using my M&P C.O.R.E. with a Trijicon RM07 for the past month. It seems to be the solution to my ever-so-slight vision problems. By ever-so-slight I mean that I do not need prescription glasses; but, I do need cheaters to read small print. This situation is such that my sights are just out of focus. In the event, slight as that possibility may be, of a self-defense situation, I speculate that no bad guy would honor the call for a time out in order for me to don my cheaters. Before this discussion starts, let's dispense with some nonsense. Please don't insult my intelligence by claiming:
1) Batteries die - yep, and using a red dot without sights that co-witness makes one a moron. When a battery dies the iron sights do not cease to exist.
2) Mechanical items fail - yep, see above
3) Difficult to conceal - until grips get as short as the height of the reflex sight, this is a non-issue
4) You're just trying to be tacticool - I would rather go without the reflex; but, the need is there - most of us want to be as little tacticool as possible. By the way, if it's concealed, the tacticool assertion is completely bogus.
5) You'll be searching for the dot - this, once again, applies to idiots and morons - if your sights are co-witnessed with your reflex, drawing the gun and aligning your sights (like you've been taught since you were 4 years old) automatically brings the dot in line.
Having dispensed with the utter non-sense that I don't wish to be part of this discussion, I would like to know how many here have had their Shield milled and attached a red-dot for carry. I am seriously considering doing this. I know I can do it with my Gen 1 9c; but, I am really considering doing it with my Shield. If it matters to your input, I will either be using an RM07 or a Fastfire III. If there is another, because of dimensions, that would work better with the Shield, please let us know what you are using. I also note that I have read, in several places, that the factory sights (not supressor height) have worked with some reflex sights on a Shield. I guess that would depend on the depth of the milling.
I have done some searches; but, most threads are old by a couple of years or so. I speculate with the advent of lighter/smaller/better red dots over the past couple of years that this has become if not common at least more common. Please provide your experiences. Thanks in advance.
