ok----ok. just posted for those interested where there are dunhams for a shot at a Shield if they wanted to purchase one. stick the other unformed. thank you for not posting. everone have a good weekend.

bearfoot, ignore the negative nellies. You just posted up good information for what it was worth. If I was in the market for a Shield, that wouldn't look to shabby. Some think that if they can get Military/First Responder discounts, that anything else is a ripoff. And if they found it $1.00 dollar cheaper somewhere else, that we are idiots for paying more. If you are happy with the deal, that is all that counts!!!!

I have found Dunhams to be extremely over priced for the most part. Their sale prices usually bring it down to what the area gun shops charge regularly.

Why would anyone pay more than $300.00 for a reliable hand gun
; )

For those in eligible for military/LEO/first responder discounts, $399 is a decent price. Who knows what the prices run in the OPs area.

Who's being negative? It's not a good price. I don't get military or first responders discount. I shop around and get the best price possible. All I stated was it wasn't a good price without writing a book.

Checking the local stores, in my area this IS a reasonable price, given that most of the better prices I've seen quoted DIDN'T include shipping and additional fees for the FFL transfer. (One of my local dealers wants to charge a $75 transfer fee... I suspect they aren't getting too many calls for this.)

Note also that not all Dunham's stores carry handguns yet, so check first. Dunham's may have relatively high regular prices, but so do ALL of the sporting goods stores around me. Most sell at MSRP unless they are on sale. Watch for the sales and coupons. The ammo coupons I was getting from making purchases (in the hunting department) brought the prices down to match or do better than Walmart.

Ammo coupons? Now that's probably worth it. I like buying locally to keep the money in the area. Dicks sporting good used to send me coupons and have ammo sales. But I stopped supporting them after last year. I don't understand why some dealers charge so much for a transfer fee. $75 is insane. Some of my lgs charge $0 -$25. I guess $399 sale for a shield sounds better than a $474 shield.

i forgot that there is an IGNORE LIST. haven't used it on this forum until now. it's neat. knowing i won't have to read someones reply that doesn't have anything. if noticed, it is from the same users.

I paid $399 "on sale" for mine a couple weeks ago. I was very happy! Only 1 of like 8 lgs's in my area (within 40 minute drive) had one in stock (plenty of .40's but no 9's) It was $449 and the guy knew he would get it so the price wasn't dropping. Gander Mountain had many, all for $449 as well. I would jump at it for $399 and I just might since my wife is in love with mine now as well! To me it's a great price right now!

1st. time trying a quote. GrandpaJacko, not sure where you live. but gander mtn. in pittsburgh area last week had them on sale for $399. both 40 and 9mm. suggestion, see if your LGS deals w/ galleryof guns. usually a good deal, and quick. they had the shield 9 mm several weeks ago. Shields are really hard to get in the burgh area. have a good weekend.
