I am unhappy, not as unhappy as the guy that had the gun blow up but still un happy.
Gun shooting to the left, could not tap the sight at the range so I cut it short.12 bucks gone.

Sight not on center from smith.
Looking at the dovetail for the sight it looks like the endmill broke and the slot may be undersize.so I put it in a small vise and screwed my sight up and it still wont move.just sent smith a e mail with picks of my now screwed up sight.
I will add pics in a few hours I'm P.O. now and had to rant and rave.
First pic of where I say the endmill broke dug in ect.
second pic what I did.
keep in mind the sight still won't move

Your whole front sight looks screwed up...

They'll take care of it if you send it in, or a gunsmith could fix it for cash...

Ok update.
After thinking I gave it another try.
It took about 80 to 100 ft lbs to move it in a Vise but I finally did.It now looks on center but its still damaged.

Don't feel bad, I took my Shield to a gunsmith with the same problem and he damaged my front sight although not as bad as yours. He wasn't able to align it, sent it in to S&W and they fixed it but didn't replace the sight.

If I were you I would bite the bullet and replace the front sight with a Big Dot, Ameriglo etc.. As you found out these sights are set using a hydraulic press at the factory and often end up being damaged by do it yourself adjustments.

I have tapped the sights out of two of my M&P's with no trouble at all.

One was an older 40FS that I put night sights on, so I removed and replaced both front and rear.

My 45c I just removed the rear to polish the USB hole.

Ya I used a 6 inch Kurt vise with some muscle to move it.I was worried I would break or bend something.Im gona make a better sight pusher.

I think the problem of difficult sights is on the newer manufactured models. I had the same problem. I purchased tru glow tfo night sights for my m&p 9, brought to my gunsmith who is a s&w certified armorer and he was unable to remove the front sight. He was able to remove the back sight but he could not get the new tfo rear on all of the way. The gunsmith called his s&w rep which told him that the tolerances on new mp models have changed. He said that smith has some new sight removal tool that will help get the sights off, but the new sights may not be compatible unless the slide is machined until they fit.

One of my sight pushers took the front sight of my M&P in about 30 seconds. Really didn't seem to be all that tight. Aftermarket sights almost always need fitting prior to installation. Sometimes a LOT of fitting.

I moved my rear sight by squirting it with penetrating oil and let it sit for about 5 minutes before doing it. Might work like that for the front as well.
