M&P sport help

I am waiting on my sport to arrive and have a few questions.

-I ordered it 3 weeks ago and the dealer still says his supplier doesn't have any. Neither do most of the online dealers I can find. How far behind is S&W on these rifles?

-I plan to put on a 2 piece quad rail Handguard but this is my first AR and I don't know how. Could someone outline the steps for me? Do I need to buy a handguard removal tool to get the stock one off? I hate to buy something to only use it once.

It shows how to do it, but it is a two man job according to the manual.

I just got mine (M&P 15 Sport) last week and installed a quad rail soon after getting it home. There are several tutorials on youtube, outlining how to do this. I'm sure there are some on this sight as well...try the search function.
I did it by myself, with no special tools. It's actually quite easy after you understand how the pieces come apart. The tutorials take the mystery out of it.

Replacing the stock is easy-peasy. Here are the steps I took:

1. Clear the rifle, make sure there are no rounds in the chamber. No ammo anywhere near you.

3. Put the butt of the rifle on the floor.

4. Pull down the delta ring.

5. Remove handguards.

I did this by hand. I found it easier to pull down more on the side of the delta ring where I was removing the hand guard.

I put a UTG pro quad rail on mine. Took all of five minutes to do. Very easy and much better than the cheap heat shield-less handgunds that came with it.

Agreed, I watched a couple of Youtube videos and then did it by myself with no special tools. I replaced it with a MagPul MOE handguard. If I can do it anyone can.

Here's a video showing how to remove it using channel locks and a screw driver, but you really don't even need that:

You just pull down on the delta ring and then pull the handguard apart.
