M&P15-22 Mag development

I'm sure my post will be quickly buried in this discussion but for me it's simple.

I'm interested but until I see reviews I'll wait patiently. That being said I would never offer payment or commit to buying without proof of functionality, cost, and some confidence of a delivery date.

That aside life happens which can put everything else on hold. There are many reasons for a lack of followup and unfortunately they could be just about anything

Well said.

I'm not getting my hopes up over what is still an idea as far as we know. That's how I'm looking at it until I see a detailed description, decent pics, and a video proving function. Some might think I'm a pessimistic a**, but I've seen a few threads like this end in disappointment.

That being said, I'll be very excited if everything goes as posted.

Hopefully nothing untoward has happened in DT's life, I'm awaiting some news on the Mags, and also his brass deflector, which has been on hold forever. Both appear to be great products.:p:p

Unless I am mistaken, DT is not developing a brass deflector. That is another member, Simple Weapons Solution. But you are right, it seems likes it has been on hold forever, too.

These aren't the only things going on in the developer's lives.

Agree 100%. There are so many things in life more important than add ons for our guns.

That being said, assuming nothing tragic has gone on in his life, I think the original poster in a thread has great responsibility in monitoring & replying to his own thread. DT came to us... we didn't come to him. He started the discussion.

The beginning post, in October, the OP states:

"The purpose of this thread is to show the stages of product development. I have been working hard for the past 2 months developing a new magazine for the M&P15-22. To the forum moderators I'm not here selling anything just providing information and pics. I know there are several vendors and product development companies on this site that are capable of engineering new products for the M&P15-22. I will only provide basic information as I do not want to give away all my secrets at least not yet.

There are currently a handfull of companies who manufacture magazines for the M&P15-22. I know everyone feels a certain way about each company in regards to quality, capacity, availability, and pricing. Those companies include the stock Smith and Wesson 25 and 15 round mags, Promag's 32 round mag, and Plinker tactical 35 round mag. Please understand I'm not in no way shape of form trying to downplay any of these companies. I respect each one of them and their hardwork to develop new products for the us. I Welcome all comments. So without further a do, I will begin with the first step."

Though it kind of evolved into a "I'll take orders in a bit", that's not what the original intent was, so we must keep that in mind. As for responsibility to monitor and keep us informed... well, he's not a moderator here, he's just another poster and most likely does not place this forum at the top of his list, especially with some states going after standard capacity magazines.

Be mindful of your anxiousness, young Padawan. Soon, a Jedi, you will be.

Jeyzahn is right about the beginning, but things progressed from that point. Up to the point of gathering information about who wanted magazines and how many. And DT did say that he would be posting a video "soon." Of course "soon" is relative and none of us were in any way PROMISED that these magazines would ever be made available. None of us have invested anything in this project other than DT. Therefore none of us have any right to be upset if the whole project does not go into production. I think everyone is just interested in why the trail went cold all of a sudden. Seemed like DT was making multiple posts per day for a while and then weeks of nothing. Everyone is just curious.

There is more involved in this than many people can even come close to comprehending. It's not a stick it in a box and ship it off. Getting tooling up alone can be a nightmare. Testing the actual product can have it's problems and then back to tooling for tweaks and fixing other problems that come up from the tweaking. Getting up enough inventory. Buying/figuring out packaging. Then there's labeling,instructions,disclamers...

The best thing to do when developing a product is to keep quiet about it and get the project ready to go out the door first. Then worry about it being a big flop or a slam drive hit out of the ball park when you introduce it to the public. All he did was find out FIRST if this would be a "do-able" project that people wanted. Then SHTF with the current events, the political "boondogle" going on and all the rumors of what's getting band that no one even has a clue about. Reading all this negative garbage ISN'T probably helping him at all with the load he's pulling. I'm SURE if this was a no-go he would have come in,said he gave it his best shot, hit a brickwall and it can't get done. Give the guy a break.

One break, coming up! Didn't mean to poke the hornets nest

And no money has changed hands, just a lot of "I'll take (insert number here)".

There's a lot of entitlement attitude around here, from the tone of some of the posts.

Give it a break, people!

On this whole, huge thread, this is only my 2nd post. I don't feel entitled to any product and have not stated I want DT's product. My comments have only to deal with standard message board decorum. I may be a newcomer to this forum but have been involved with running & moderating others for many years. My experience is that a thread originator has a responsibility to his own thread. I feel that posters in this thread should feel entitled to responses from the OP. But as I said before, only if nothing tragic has occurred in his life.

I'm going to stomp my feet and hold my breath until DT personally brings my magazine to my door on a silver platter!:(
