I have been considering purchasing a M&P15-22p pistol. I already have a couple of the rifles and thought the pistol version would be a neat addition. Doesn't seem like a really practical piece, but maybe just for fun. Anyone who already has one got any regrets?

I'm not real big on the AR as a pistol.

This is the route I went:

My friend has a 15-22P, and it was a lot of fun to shoot, so I bought one last week. He's had it since they first came out and has had zero issues with it, so I jumped on one for $329.

I bought a red/green dot/laser sight combo for it, a couple mags, and a Houge replacement grip. I haven't shot it yet.

I have one and it is a blast. I also have the 15-22. Waiting on a form 4 to clear for a mite and an aac element...then the fun begins:)
I got a steal on a pre-owned eotech from a local forum, so mine sports an eotech...gotta love it when the optics cost more than the gun.
I caught a weekend sale on cdnn sports a month or so back and bought 10 mags for 17.99. Now I have 12 total....load them up while watching tv in the gun room...aka garage...and have a blast the next day

the first time i saw one was at a local gun show
my knees got weak
i had been considering the gsg-5pk but the shorter pistol one's were taken off the market so when i saw this one -
OMG!!
gotta be nice to the other half so i can buy it
lol

Better be nice to the other half so she will let you shoot it. Once my wife shot mine it became her gun.

I was interested in both, gsg especially, until I realized I would have to have and SBR stamp to add the VFG and side folding stock I wanted. Not big on spending more on accessories than I did on the gun. Might still buy a 15-22P just to have it if they ever get down to the $300 range, then I'd have to see if I could get it integrally suppressed just to be different. Would look cool in a chest style rig like adam Baldwin's Character wore on Serenity. Yes I realize he has an MP5 variant, but it would be cool with the M&P as well.

From what I've read, it isn't really a practical piece; but it seems it was created for those who love fun. I think this is the real reason for it's existence, just plain shooting enjoyment. So yea, have a ball. Anyone heard about the legality of owning both the 25-22 and the 22p, per upper/lower changing and intention of making a short barreled rifle?

Short barreled upper on the stocked lower without ATF approval (stamp) gets you time in the big house with a cell mate named Bubba (picture Bam Bam Bigelow). Even if for a short time, if you're caught it's definite pain (fines, jail, no more guns:eek:).

Not as accurate as the rifle version, doesn't have the classic panache of the K-22, a touch on the pricey side, but dang, it is fun to shoot. Regrets? - not a one. It is a super addition to the herd. Plus, once my wife had a chance to shoot the little darling, she got over the sticker shock.

S&W mp 15-22

do you think it would be possible to put a AR 15 upper on the mp 15-22 lower?

Dicontinued?

Glad I got mine then. Might have to look into getting extra springs and maybe a bolt being that they are a little different than the rifle. Spare parts you know.;)

Ugh, the pistol has been removed from S&W's web site. Just when I started to get interested in it, too. RIP.

Darn..

I have one and now it just got ..."collectible"....:D

Fun gun but for us it looks better than it's accurate. But, I'm not selling it. Zombie time isn't that far away.
