Took the new to me M&P15 to the range saturday. This is the "optics ready" model with the 1x9 twist.Tried a few different types of ammo. Did not like Tula steel cased ammo. At all. I'd fire one shot then click. Next round wouldn't feed. Figured it might be the mag(pmag), changed mags, same problem. Tried some brass case AE, not one issue. Tried Silver bear, same issue! My previous AR, Sig, and ACR loved Silver Bear. One thing to note is the previous owner lubed the **** out of the gun before we traded. Like too much. As I continued to shoot I was able to cycle the Silver bear, but still had some FTF's. Brass case was not an issue. I've read the M&P series guns aren't ammo picky at all, so I was suprised. I think it had something to do with the excess ammount of lube. Overall the gun was very accurate and functioned great with cheap AE brass, sold at Wally World for $5.99 a box.
I took it home and wiped off the excess lube. I'm going to give it another try with the silver bear. I have about 350 rounds of this stuff so hopefully it works. If not I guess I'll have to put it up for sale.
