m&p22 safety plug

No, they come in the smooth white plastic that is shown early on in this thread. Mine just turned out that way from the paint.

Oh ok. From the looks of it, it might look real good with the right stippling. It'd match the grip. Add just the right character.

Check out his vid in an earlier post.

Yes, but I don't think a threaded screw is the best option... I have an old torx screwdriver that has a 4mm diameter shaft, but I just wondered if someone had found a better alternative.

For now I just used a stainless 4x20 mm screw. After cutting the head off flush it was just the right length. I checked our local nut and bolt warehouse and they had 4x20 dowel pins listed but they were out of stock. I will keep searching for a replacement rod and with the plugs it will be easy to swap something out as you just need to field strip the pistol to get access to the plugs. BTW, 4 mm = 5/32", I thought about using a piece of a drill bit.

I swapped out the screw for the 5/32 drill bit shank today without a problem.

Haha as did I. I just read the last few posts and was kicking myself in the *** since I didn't think of a drill bit shank. Took forever to cut mine though, I think I got some super stretch carbon bit by mistake.

I hope to be ordering some black ABS plastic in the next few weeks... It's stronger than the PLA being used now, and I think the black matches the black polymer, or very close.

I've also been looking into having the plugs cast in aluminum, but the price to start the process is just too great. It would require me to sell two plugs for like $30, and screw that. I am keeping these things cheap. If I won't pay more than $5 for two plastic pieces, neither is anyone else.

I even googled how to cast aluminum in your back yard, and well... screw that ha.

I just installed my plugs as well. I painted mine with krylon ultra flat camo paint. Damn near exact match. Today was a great day for my 22. I removed the thumb safety(of course), Removed the magazine safety and was gonna install the thread barrel extension from speed shooter specialties but the ****ty wrench provide is worthless. So I went to sears and got some thin wrench which I have to still grind down. So tomorrow it is. Sorry for the rant. Thanks for the plugs!

Much better... Hit it with a little bed liner spray which gave it the same texture as the rest of the gun... Thanks a bunch!

You guys are killing me... Just shipped out another 30 sets.

If anyone else is interested, shoot me an email at [email protected]

Printing up 100 more sets tonight/tomorrow.

I'll also be ordering black ABS plastic soon.

Okay, I am going to be putting orders on hold for a week or so. I am ordering black ABS plastic, as well as about 100 aluminum dowels to take place of the safety dowel.

The plugs will now be sold as a package with all the hardware you need to install them.

Just ordered my M&P 22 today. When you start taking orders again how do you go about ordering them? I'm guessing via PM?

An update for those waiting to order the new safety plugs.

I should be getting the ABS plastic either saturday or monday. I'll be getting the dowels tomorrow and I had to reassemble the M&P22 with the safeties so I can document and create step by step printed instructions.

I'll probably be creating a new thread with the v2 of the plugs. just a heads up.

Cheers

Update for you all.

Plastic came in today and the dowels will be here tomorrow. I will be spending the weekend creating written instructions and creating packages for those who are interested in the new set of plugs.

I'll be creating a new thread with price and details on the new version of plugs.

Just a quick update.

I will be taking orders for the new safety plug kits either this weekend, or on Monday. I'll create a new thread for them as well as a website with order form.

Be excited. This look so cool in black.
