m&p9c as a carry piece

I have a full size m&p which I really like and am thinking about a compact to carry. But I also am considering a 640. Anyone carry the m&p compact? I like the idea of carrying the 640 in pants pocket. Does that work for the compact also? Your thoughts are welcome and thanks.

I don't do pocket carry with either my J frame or my M&P compact.

But the M&Pc is a fantastic concealed handgun that is all but impossible to spot unless you are wearing it under spandex.

Here's what I carry mine in:

If i where spandex i will be attacked for sure by the ugly police! Thanks for the quick responses. I'm going to see what is availble today in the compact.

I've carried my 9c in a fanny pack. It works, but the number of times I'll wear that darn FP are few and far between. I don't have an IWB holster for it, but I think that would be the way to do it.

I would suggest getting a holster for, and carrying the full size M&P. If you ever get a compact and want to carry it, you will still have a rig for the bigger pistol if for some reason the compact is out for repair, ect. The compact may also end up being a great BUG (weak side pocket carry perhaps) for the bigger M&P on the belt.

I definitely agree with flop-shank in getting the holster for the full size version. The extra barrel length is a non-issue when carrying IWB. First of all, the full-size M&P is not that long anyway, second, the barrel is hidden inside the pants.

I have to caution you, though, that I find my full size M&P to be the hardest gun to conceal of all that I have. Harder than my N frame revolvers. Why? Because the full size M&P's grip is long and blocky. It prints like nobody's business if you wear it too far back or if you bend or twist the wrong way.

I can get away with it most of the time with a full size IWB, but concealing an M&P full size in an OWB holster is a challenge. At least for me,

I carry either a 442 (80%) or a Kahr PM-9 (20%)in my front pocket. Both are carried in either an Uncle Mike's or DeSantis pocket holster. I normally carry a M&Pc in either a Bianchi Minimalist OWB holster or a High Noon IWB holster (the Bianchi holster also fits the full-size M&P). The M&Pc conceals easily under an untucked shirt or vest. I have carried the M&Pc in the front pocket of a pair of 5.11 trousers, but those pockets are big enough to hide a full-size M&P.

I carry a M&P 9mm compact in a Comp-tac iwb and it is very easy to conceal. I always wear my shirt tucked in and I have never had a problem with it printing or looking bulky. A good belt is key to support the weight of the gun.

Comp-Tac CTAC IWB. With a strong belt and loose shirts there is no problem with concealment (for me) for the 9C.

The M&P9c is my favorite carry - but IWB, not in a pocket. (the only thing thin and light enough for my pocket is a KelTec P3AT.)

I carry my full-size M&P40 OWB under a jacket. It's not easy to spot even though I'm relatively thin.

I'm in agreement regarding the Kel-tec. Most everyone that carries guns would benefit by having one. Sometimes it is the biggest gun that will work for me. When that's not the case it makes an excellent second or third gun.

I carry the M&P9C frequently - usually in a belt holster, but I have carried a few times in my pocket.

You need a good sized pocket and baggy pants for best results. When carrying this way, I carry the gun without the addition of a pocket holster and with absolutely nothing else in the pocket.
