I just brought my new EDC gun home. I haven't even cleaned it yet. The trigger is really nice on these new M&P's. I don't normally buy guns that aren't all black but this one just caught my eye.

That's nice, CONGRATS!

Congrats on the new FDE compact. I really like the black & FDE combo.

I'm noticing a difference in the baseplate of you magazine compared to mine. Can you get a pic of the one with the small baseplate as well?

I ask due to the fact that mine require more force an applied at the nose to get them to seat, and it looks like the baseplates are to blame.

I believe the OP's baseplates are of the 10 round variety. Perhaps that is why they have those little "wings" at the bottom? I have the standard capacity 12rd magazines for my 9c and they are all the "flush fit" type with a smooth fit to the frame.

Have the 9mm mag bodies always looked like that? I have M&P 40's and the mag bodies look nothing like those. The extension on the 40C looks different also.

Ten round mags... You might be right about the difference then.

The FDE does look good though. If they had FDE back straps for the compact, I would get one to break up the solid black lines on mine.

I did that with my FS, and it looks good, but I recently switched to the small back strap on the FS, and I don't have a FDE one in small.

I switched from medium because the compact didn't feel right with medium, and using the small on the FS keeps trigger finger position consistent between them.

I was hoping to read about SHOT, that Colt had re-introduced the Python, or at least a one time special run. I'd even settle for a special "Walking Dead" edition. Maybe after that series ends, the prices of used Pythons will settle down. I've read that it took 15 years after Dirty Harry before S&W caught up with demand for the Model 29 in .44 Magnum. You'd think Colt would get the message from that. Oh well, Colt has never been known for its business acumen.

About your compact 9. How's that grip? Some people complain of pinching. The FDE frame, though, looks good enough to buy anyway. My wife really likes it, but I don't see a listing with the thumb safety, which she insists on (and I agree.) I wonder how hard a retrofit that would be.

Very nice. Is that the Cabelas exclusive with the range kit? I have the exact same pistol. I put nightsights and the Apex DCAEK Kit in it and just couldn't be more pleased. The 12rd mags with that extended base are my favorite. It's an excellent pistol for carry or home defense.

Yes my mags are of the 10 round variety, I live in CT. I have not experienced any pinching and no it's not a Cabela's gun, this one of the newly introduced colors from S&W.
S&W M&P9c model 10191

Anyone know where I can get a second extended floor plate.

I really like that two tone design; i've been eye-balling Cabela's FS version which is their exclusive kit to be an alternative to (or in addition to) my plain old black 9c..... after all variety is the spice of life they say lol

Looks sharp. I wouldn't mind owning an FDE compact. Mine is a mid to late 2013 production, and I really like the trigger break and reset on it. I don't even think I'm in a hurry to install Apex in it at all whereas it seemed like a necessity with the Pro I bought back in 2012.

If I work up enough courage, I might try the factory striker block mod to smooth out the take up, but it's a solid shooter and very accurate!
