I just bought a new S&W M&P9c, took it to the range after cleaning the factory oil out of it. Trigger is nice, shoots great, feels great. One problem. After loading one of the mags(10 round) after about the fifth or sixth time(using reliable reloads the whole time), i shot four rounds and the slide stayed back partially. Removed the mag and the jam and found the remaining ammo was rattling around in the mag due to three round being jammed together in the mag. Any known issues and/or fixes for this? I got rid of a Ruger SR9c after 300 rounds because of this same issue with their 10 round mags but i like this firearm better and i want to keep it if this issue can be resolved. Thanks

I would try some factory ammo and see if I got the same result.

When I have had to use ten round magazine that were reduced from larger normal size the last round always seemed harder to load or mag was a pain in the ###. No offense to your reloader, but, try factory ammunition since there could be several minor issues making this problem happen.

Take the magazine apart and make sure spring is in correctly and clean any gunk out of it. Check the follower for any burrs etc. If the rounds were rattling around in the mag it sounds like the follower wasn't coming up as needed.

I forgot equipment maintenance. Doh. Just a habit I forget about myself... Bent spring, burr on a part, rough spot inside magazine tube, etc. Doh.

OP, i know very little about reloads, but since that was an issue with another brand gun you had i agree to try factory ammo. Seems odd that this would happen to you twice; was it the same batch of ammo that caused issues in both handguns?

I had over 1K rounds of a "good" reload through my SD40VE.
I was 99% sure it wasn't the rounds.
Shot a box of Winchester, no issues. Bought reloads from another source...no issues. The second source was kind enough to take my gun and their ammo upstairs and put a mag through it. Then he mic'd my old ammo and his ammo and showed me the difference.
If he wouldn't have showed me, measured for me...and shot it, I would've told him he was full of it.

Sorry, WWB is not a reload. It's factory ammo.
Was told it is reloaded and is their value line. I honestly don't know. Its what I was told by my current reloader...(the ones that work...lol)
Quick update: I took both mags apart and cleaned them very well, inspected all parts and found a small plastic burr on both followers. I cleaned off the burrs with 600 and 1000 grit sandpaper and got them real smooth, that may have been the issue but i won't know until i go back to the range. I will keep you posted, thanks again for the input, it's greatly appreciated!
That would be some shoddy quality control, but I went through the same thing. (My Mags were fine, but cleaned the bejezus out of them anyways)

My 40c went from a buyer's remorse purchase (used) to my favorite gun to shoot in a couple of weeks. Simple thing like ammo...go figure.
Let us know how yours works out. Try not to change/fix/redo too many things at once so you're certain exactly what it is. Now that you filed those burrs, use that same ammo to test it out.
I've got about 500 rounds through my 40c since figuring out my issue, not a single problem since.
