M&P9c or Shield

M&P SHIELD

I just recently traded my Ruger for the shield. Took her to the range very excited and within the first 20 rounds the slide locked up numerous times in the middle of a magazine. At that point the slide with Damn near impossible to get back into firing position. Has anybody had this happen and what could cause to do this? It is brand new

I have the Shield PC 9mm. Works like a charm. No problems Great Trigger. More accurate than I expected. Seems to shoot any factory ammo I throw at it.

I see you are from Ohio, so you wear layers of clothes in the winter and a T shirt and shorts in the summer I would guess. I have a 40c for winter carry when I could hide a bazooka and a shield 9 for summer carry. You need both. As far as capacity you should carry an extra mag and hope you never need the gun or the capacity. The 9mm has plenty of punch to get through a T shirt and the 40 has enough to punch through the layers of winter clothing. Good luck on YOUR decision.

Good advice. That's what I do here in New England. Always carry a extra mag on my belt. I don't know if it's advised or not but during the dead of winter I have been known to stagger my mag with gold Dots and FMJ rounds. If the GD doesn't get through the clothing the next round will. Recoil is about the same. Also carry a back up J frame Chiefs Special 642 in my outer wear pocket. 5 rounds of Gold Dot short barrel 38 Plus p without even exposing my handgun.

I just want to know what kind of pocket you carry a 9c in??? I read so many threads about folks pocket carrying regular sized firearms. Either you are well endowed and used to getting compliments about your "hog leg" or you have some huge pockets. Pocket carrying a double stack of any kind just doesn't make sense to me. But hey, what do I know?
Get a pair of Wrangler cargo shorts at Walmart. The heavier fabric versions are better.

How cross the .357 Sig shoot? Does it beat the frame up?

That question deserves its own thread and it's bad etiquette to hijack the threads of others to ask off-topic questions. If there is something wrong with the gun S&W will stand good for it. If I were you I'd send them an email even before starting a new thread of your own. They are quick to respond.

I think this is not a either/or situation. You should keep your Shield and buy a 9C.

I love my 9C, has Apex upgrades & now has the best trigger I've felt in any striker-fired gun.
I agree. You want both. And I wouldn't trade a new Shield for the 9C.

I agree. I also apologize for my minor thread-jack as well.

Anyway, I wouldn't make the trade either. There's something to be said for haveing both single and double stack carry options. Often, depending largely in manner of dress, I alternate between the two throughout the week.

Apologizing for rookie question here, but just getting started on CC. For seeing what's easiest to carry/conceal, will LGS let you demo a variety of holster/pistol combos? I'm down to 4 options but have no idea where/how to get started on picking an IWB holster

At some LGS you can rent a few guns before you buy and if you buy they apply the rental. Most LGS will let you handle the guns and I assume some will let you try out a holster or 2.( I assume from a open package. Maybe a friend has some holsters ? But most here have several holsters in a box till they find one they love :) My favorite is my Jel Tech for 25$ . Kydex
JelTecHolsters – Budget Minded Products

and Alien Gear they have a good 2fer deal. leather/Kydex
Concealed Carry Holsters - Alien Gear Holsters - Gun Holsters

I will 2nd this ^

I carry my Apex'd Shield 9 in summer, but was switching between the Glock 26 and Glock 19 (both gen4) in winter time.

After I got a great deal on a brand new 9c being auctioned, I actually shot better with it than my Glocks, so I sold them both, Apex'd the 9c, bought a spare guide rod/spring assembly, added night sights, a few extra mags and kept the extra $$$. I now have a heck of a carry piece and could not be happier!

Like Radco said " But most here have several holsters in a box till they find one they love"
For me that was The DeSantis® 028 Cozy Partner® Inside-The-Waistband Handgun Holster. Good luck.

Thanks to all that replied, I think I will just keep the Shield for now.
