M&P's are inexpensive -- Why and How?

FWIW, my 9c shoots straight and is 100% reliable. Ergonomics are outstanding. Don't know how a different twist or a hammer forged barrel would or could make it shoot straighter or improve upon 100% accuracy. SIGs are nice guns too. But not objectively "better." Esthetically, perhaps, but that is very subjective.

Forgot to add, I love the trigger! It's not a 1911 (what is?), but for a DAO striker fired gun it's just fine.

In plastic? For less than $600? The Walther PPQ 9mm. Great trigger. Very accurate. Head and shoulders above the m&p.

Or, any LE trade in HK pistol. Most I ever paid for any of my HK's is $580. You just have to look around for bargains, on any gun. Even in this day and time bargains are still out there. Regards 18DAI

Sorry, this is invalid. Used guns cannot be part of the comparison. They can be offered at any price. Only new guns offer a truly valid comparison.

I've fired PPKs before, but not the PPQ. The PPK I fired was nice and is very similar to the M&P.

To answer the question, regrettably, in my experience 9mm Glocks outshoot M&Ps and will "usually" stay within that 4"x4" square - and I think you can easily buy those for under $600. Is a CZ75 still available for that kind of money?

I understand and accept the comment about defensive range (25-yds being long). I was just talking about my experiences with the gun, not branching out into that sort of consideration.

I like M&Ps but the design is poorly executed. With a decent trigger action and some sort of fix for the accuracy "concern" it would be a nice gun, if you are OK with the new-style construction.
