Can anyone tell me when my Springfield Armory M1A was made, or point me to source that can. Serial number is 0424XX.

Don't know about yours, but I got mine in the spring of 1977. My serial number is 0068XX. I'm assuming it was made in 1976.
Paid the outlandish price of $295 new. Since I was shooting for the Guard at the time, at their expense, it was coverted to a Super Match, but none other then Gene Barnett (Barnett Barrels) who was working as an armor for the guard MTU. He was also furnishing Match Barrels to the NG MTU.
Still have it, it still shoots great.

Just found out through a PM my was made in 1987 in what one link called the golden age of M1A"s, when USGI parts were still being used.
