M2.0 Really Challenging Glock?

stavey Makes Some Points

To each his own . If the police and military began shooting hipoint pistols. There are alot of people who would follow blindly. Generally the first responders use whatever their department gets the best deal on. Not what is best. They will all get the job done. Looking at a glock next to almost any pistol it's clear the glock was made cheaper. Lighter weight , plastic sights , not to mention the tiny ridiculous cases they come in. I can also tell you that glocks flex ALOT in the ransom rest more so than m&p's or any I've tested. They are also way more pressure sensitive in the rest . Telling me they are thin and cheap.
You've made some interesting points, especially about what novices see in our cop holsters. I consider Glocks the AK47 of pistols. Cheap to produce but work. "Perfection" maybe not. That's why most replace the sights straight away. ( I have one Glock__a
G43 and find the sights fine) Then there's no end to the improvements people make. If you don't find a lot of after market items that's telling. If there was a market for them there would be a lot out there. All this said, I keep my pistols just as the design engineers made them. So many folks want their SD designed pistol to be a range one.
I think I hear more complaints about the grip angle of Glocks and
have to agree.
I think they're dependable and inexpensive. And the deals they offer PDs is why so many of we cops have them as a duty pistol.
Sig is no doubt the most modular made. I think that's the reason the army chose that pistol. ( I did before the army did)
Most of these pistols fill the need. I like choices among brands.
Stay safe.

I've been working with a 2.0 Compact 9mm & a Glock 19X 9mm.

Despite the Glock's Marksman barrel, the two pistols are roughly neck in neck in accuracy.
The Smith's slide may be an eighth of an inch longer.

The 19X has the 17-length gripframe, so that's not directly comparable, but the 19X exhibits the biggest deal-killer common to all of the Glocks above the 26-size- the poorly designed grip.

I actually prefer the clean lines of what others call ugly on Glocks, but I can't tolerate the grip.

The 2.0 Compact, on the other hand, has a great fit in my hand.

Given a choice between a Glock 19 and the Smith Compact, it'd be the Compact, for that reason.

The Smith is fine out of the box, I'd have to spend more on the Glock for a grip alteration.

Glock's breakdown & parts situation does figure into the equation, but if you just can't ever, in 30 years of intermittent trying, get your hand to like it, that doesn't outweigh. :)

Simple marketing: Glock owns the term "semi-auto pistol", just like Apple owns "smartphone", or in the South, any soft drink is a "Coke". It's more important to be #1 in the minds of consumers rather than absolute #1 in performance.

"In the South" the drink is sweet tea. I much prefer tea to nasty carbonated soft drinks. I can make it myself, and I have loved the flavor since forever.

As far as Glocks, I own two, once owned three. Not particularly impressed, I should have bought similar Smiths for almost half the price. My carry most the time is a GP100, absolute pin point accuracy. Not acceptable accuracy, but real accuracy. Even my Taurus 82 will out group a Glock.

If you love a Glock there is nothing wrong with that, but they are not God's gift to CC, or OC.

As far as the OP and M&P challenging Glock, pretty much any pistol that is bought instead of a Glock has challenged them. Please no tears.
