I enjoyed the previous threads on 44 specials and M24s and after a recent ICORE match with my 21-4, I wanted to hear from others who have and shoot their M21s.

I’ve often characterized it as a M10 on steroids. For me, it’s such a fun gun to shoot. Accurate, quick to draw and get on target, comfortable to shoot well- these are just some of the attributes I find in my 21-4. Now that I’m shooting ICORE monthly, I plan on employing it much, much more.

Worst new revolver I ever purchased.
Front sight way too tall.
B/C gap was .014" on one side.
Under the grip there was an area on the butt with no metal. The forging was undersized. Machined it anyhow, covered with the grip.
Dealer took it back, gave me a nice 4 inch 29-3.

I've got one of the 50 21-4's that were dubbed "Classic Series" and the frames were casehardened by Doug Turnbull. This one had the worst action I've ever seen on a S&W until I tuned it up. I've never shot it from a rest, but it has no problem keeping everything I shoot thru it inside the 10 and X ring of a B27 police target at 25yds. It shoots my carry load with a 200gr HTP hollow point you could hide a bus in loaded quite a bit warmer than standard loads. I only carry it as a B-B-Q gun and it never fails to gather attention.

I had the opportunity to shoot my M21-4 at another local ICORE match.

For me, it shoots and handles very well which helped me come in 2nd. For me it’s one of the more enjoyable revolvers I have.

I upgraded my M 21-4 with a spring kit from Wilson Combat and a gold bead partridge front sight. As my gun was bought used it came with houge tamer grips that I temporarily replaced with a set from altamont. I’ll probably replace the grips, but everything else is working well for me.

Where did you get the McGivern sight?
