M36 3"

That really is a jewel!! Wow. Later than 1967 due to heavy barrel. Not diamond grips, must be a J series serial number. But still has a pinned barrel so pre 1982 and therefore not new enough to have the factory smooth combat trigger yet. There were 213 targets marked M36-1 made c. 1975 but supposedly had sq butts. Yours is definitely uncommon but does look factory. And the factory combat grips are cool. You did a nice job on those. Is the barrel rib grooved?

I can tell you why the hammer is blue, it's a COOL custom made wide target hammer and longer than factory as well; probably a K or N frame target hammer spur welded on.

For my M30-1 I had to find the only factory produced case colored centerfire J frame target hammer for the earliest 60-4 Target 3" 1990 production before S&W started chroming the hammer and trigger or made them from stainless steel.

Non factory 1967 M30-1 pinned barrel target with no grooves on barrel rib (top).
Mod 34-2 '80s vintage with non-pinned barrel and new longer rear sight tang (bottom).
