I have a M36-7 and looked in the archives for my gun on the S&W website which showed the M36 as a +P gun. Does anyone know which engineering revision was the first rated for +P. Non +P ammo for defense is hard to find in my area and I am also wondering if anyone knows if my -7 will handle it. Thanks.

Yes, it's a late model steel frame, no barrel pin if I read your photo correctly, it will handle +P ammunition with no problem.

I recently fired my aluminum frame 642 with 130gr standard pressure practice ammo and Federal +P 158gr ammo. Purely subjective, but I could tell no difference in firing either load in the 642.

Thanks everyone. Your time and input is greatly appreciated. Love the article Shorty. Definitely brings some piece of mind.
