M46 due today

Isn't it strange that the Model 46, that was meant to be a plainer, more affordable version of the Model 41, was made in smaller numbers and is consequently harder to find and commands a premium? It's like you had to pay more for a Model 28 than a Model 27. The life of a collector sometimes takes strange turns, doesn't it? :rolleyes"

Not exactly more expensive than a M41, just harder to find. Usually missing the bbl. weight that came with them when new. UPS should be here soon, so I will get my first up close examination of this pistol. Big Larry

# 73407. Shipped 6-1965. 2 mags., numbered box, parts list, and vapor paper. No tools. Should be here any minute now. Big Larry

Gun just arrived. UPS just put it on the porch and never made any attempt to let me know it was here. It was a signature service package too, requiring an adult signature. Anyway, the M46 is drippy mint. The only thing I could find wrong was the 2nd magazine had the plastic follower. The one in the pistol was the correct figure 8 type. May have originally come with one mag. and another later one, was put in the box.

Glad it worked out well for you.

Thanks to a lot of the different ways of doing things after the Covid mess started, many times even with signature required, adult signature required the drivers were told to use their own discretion and just hit and run.

Happened to me twice, on both a gun and ammo so I did some inquiry's and that was what I was told!
I live rural and long distance off the road but its still wrong!-

Good score. The rarer the gun the harder to get in the original box. Congratulations.
I keep an eye out for lower productions and rarer guns the 46 being one.
I too like the 46, bought every one I have seen in Australia lucky enough to have 8, three in their original box. Yet to find a heavy barrel.

Rarity is an odd thing. I have nearly for times the number of 41-1s yet the 46 production numbers were four times that of the 41-1.
Plain dumb luck has so much to do with it

Here in Utah, we have had trouble with Porch Pirates. Not so much in Southern Utah, mostly up North.
My Grandson is a UPS driver in Southern Calif. I will ask him about company policy in this matter.
At least they could have done, was ring the doorbell. I have two, and a large note on the door to ring them. Big Larry

Not that the driver would know whats in the box, but I find it just a bit ironic that UPS, who put up such a stink about shipping guns to individuals, would just leave one on the front steps of a random house.

Buy the way, that gun doesn't exist until some pictures are posted here!

Need to learn how to do that. As soon as I learn how, you folks will get sick of my pics. I have over 60 S&W's.
My Grandson, a UPS driver, says if a driver leaves a Signature Service, and it is stolen, and they find out it was a gun, the driver is suspended or fired.
I have a couple signs on my door telling delivery drivers to ring both bells. I have a bell right by my TV that lets me know someone is there. The other is upstairs.
Too be fair, Fedex does the same thing, but he doesn't even get to the porch. Puts my packages in my driveway and leaves. Big Larry

C'mon, Big Larry, it's easy,! Are you on a desktop, an iPad, a laptop or a cell phone? Methods fo each are slightly different, but all start with getting your image(s) on the device, then follow the instructions posted here repeatedly. You can do it, old friend… or you could just ask a teenager. ;)

I have no electronic devices. I am the only person in the world that does not have a cell phone.
I have no problem posting on other sites, but I just cannot get this one.
I have a friend who is going to come over and show me how step by step.
Then you will be sorry, as I am a frequent poster on other Forums. Big Larry
