You see, I have this pistol that uses these magazines, see, and since the election those magazines have become impossible to find. Adding insult to injury, those magazines have risen to ~$60 each, per the factory, as of this week, if and when they become available again.

I had been fighting the urge to go back to revolvers 100%--with little success--for at least the past year, but the post-election hysteria and resulting "shortages" finally pushed me over the line.

Anyone else appreciating the wheelgun's simplicity and many other virtues a little more acutley of late?

I've always loved revolvers. No clips to lose, no safety(well, until recently), no levers, no slides to rack, no nothin'. Pull the trigger and they go bang.

Only $60.00 per?

I'd be happy to find them for under $175.00 for my Coonan?

What gun are the mags for? I have seen a lot of BS and I can still buy new Glock 19 mags for $15.99 you might be getting BS from your dealer.

Ruger was (and maybe still is) selling factory 20 round Mini 14 mags for $29.99 on their web site. A couple weeks ago I saw them listed on GB for $110 per pair - and there was actually a bidder at that price.

HK45c. It is a neat pistol but not THAT neat. HK had an across the board price increase effective 1/07/09. I was able to GET P-Mags for my EBR more easily (and that was not easy at all!) than I can even FINDmags for the HK45c and P-series pistols. Post-election hysteria combined with the Germans taking advantage of the situation? Perhaps. HK parts (their legendary customer service notwithstanding) has always been the brand's Achille's Heel.

And to think I gasped when basic stainless factory 7-rounders for my Colts set me back $25 each.

FWIW, I have had consistently excellent customer service from both Smith & Wesson and Colt on the rare occasions when I have needed it over the past couple of years.

I've said it before: there is something to be said for sticking with the one that brought you to the dance. That would be S&W revolvers and Colt 1911s for me. IME, the revolvers perceived shortcomings--capacity, size, potential ejector star hang-up, etc.--are greatly exagerated, while its strengths--inherent simplicty and ease of operation under stress, self-contained unit (no magazines), ammo/loads versatilty, ability to change/fit stocks to fit the shooter, are greatly under-appreciated.

A 4" 686p OWB is working out very well for me this winter. It wants a set of those very practical C&S Extreme Duty fixed sights and will get them soon. The M642 continues to quietly ride along everywhere in a pocket holster. Those lightweight Js are like the underwear of guns: they go on before anything else; seldom if ever seen but always there. My go-to rifle is a Marlin 1894c in .357 Mag. that wears a set of AO/XS Ghost Rings, a sling, and a cuff. Sometimes, less is more; simplicity always works. I think I see a pattern here.

Someday, I may admit that resitance is indeed futile and pick up an N-Frame in .45 ACP. Until then, it looks like I am a born again .357 mag./.38 Spl. revolver guy. Amen.

Just can't beat those revolvers for shooting enjoyment. No magazines to load, thus sparing your thumb, no brass to hunt, no worry about jams due to light loaded rounds! I could go on, but you get the picture.

Have lotsa fun!!
