Ok, I have two magazines on order with S&W that was placed with them on 4-8-10. The trouble is, when I called today to check on my order, the rep said, "I don't know why we are out of stock on magazines and I don't know when they will be in stock"

That is the same speech I got when the order was placed. That being said, my gun came back with "new style" mags and they took my old ones. At that time, the sales rep said the same, out of stock dont know when da da da.

I asked the rep how they could be out of stock of magazines yet have sent two as replacements back with my gun. The rep said that they allocate the magazines to the gun stock before they will ship the magazines out to the customer.

So here I am, two magazines on order, with absolutely no expected date, or even the presumption that they want to get them out to me. I am just so displeased about being left completely in the dark about this.

Anyone else have magazines on order, or do you know any special contact that will actually work when you talk to them?

thanks,
Ryan

I ordered 2 mags from S&W on the 11th. I called in on the 14th to get status. They told me they were back ordered and I should get mine in 4 weeks. (2 weeks if they work saturdays).

Then I found a discussion on this message board. Said to check out 44mag.com. Cheaper than S&W and in stock. I ordered 2 mags from them on the 14th and received them 2 hours ago.

44MAG.com-M&P15 .22lr 25rd Magazine Smith and Wesson

Ordered mine around the 1st of April. I called on 4/12 and was told, "It shouldn't be much longer." We'll see.

in fact I need to cancel my S&W order and place another one with 44mag

ordered on 4/12 from S&W. received a post card on 4/17 stating they are on backorder.
4/18(sun) placed same amount order w/44mag.
4/19 called S&W to cancel order, then checked my e-mail and 44mag had just shipped my order in the a.m.

I just ordered some from 44mag just now. I think those will hold me over til S&W gets theirs out.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes.

The only reason I was even pestering S&W about where my mags is because I have a box of goodies from Midway USA on its way and I wanna shoot when it gets here, and not just with two mags!!!

CANT WAIT TIL FRIDAY:D:D

LOL . . . I ordered 5 of the short 10 round magazines from the S&W website on 4.12.10. A couple of days later, I sent S&W an e-mail inquiring about the status of my order. I never received a reply.

Today, I received a plain white post card from S&W stating that my order had been processed and the items are backordered with a description of my order.

Good Lord, the S&W site did not state that these short mags were backordered while I was processing the order. Oh well, I'm in California . . . And as such, I do not want the dummied 10/25 round magazines. So, I guess I will need to sit and wait for my new magazines to arrive.

Needless to say, this is a terrible way to build positive customer relations.

I just called S&W, all they could tell me is that the mags are still on back order. I canceled my order with S&W and placed my 2nd order with 44mag.com

No mags in Holland

When I purchased my M&P 15-22 here in Holland Europe I was instandly told by my seller that mags for this gun were not available (something with export license) but luckily in Holland we have a simalar forum and one of the guys there knew someone in the states and yes 2 weeks later had my 8 mags, sorry this won't help you guys here but shows even here in far far away europe we endure problems getting mags.

I ordered a few mags from RRanges.com when I ordered my Scope and grip, ordered on Friday afternoon and had them by Monday.

$25 and that includes shipping. (USPS Priority Mail)
I know they are more expensive, but the price includes shipping (don't know what that 44mag place charges for shipping)

44mag shipping

they charged nine bucks for USPS priority. Like three days wait for them. Made two mags $45 shipped

Placed an order just now, for some "shorty" mags from the factory. I'll be getting a postcard before the mags, as I've been told.

My 2nd set of mags just shipped today from 44mag :) Ordered them yesterday.

Ordered two 25-round mags from S&W a couple of weeks ago. Got the "on backorder" postcard 3 days later.
Ordered two 25-round mags from 44mag.com last Tuesday. Got two mags in the mail from 44mag.com 3 days later.
Canceled the order from S&W today.

When to new short 10-round mags are in stock anywhere, I'll probably grab a couple of them..
Seems like a convenient size for those times you just have to poke the barrel out the back door to take care of a varmint in the chicken coop :)

Well, I ordered 3 more last night from 44mag.com. This morning I called S&W and cancelled my order. About an hour later I received an e-mail from 44mag.com stating my three mags had shipped. I am pleased.

As an aside, just how many 15-22 magazines do you suppose are sitting at the Smith factory just being held for the repair shop?

cush; As an aside said:
I was somewhat told that by a rep, although he was clearly uninformed.

I believe that they have the majority of the new magazines placed aside because of the massive return rate. Without magazines for the fixed guns their factory may be even more backed up because of the buildup of repairs.

How do you come up with a "massive return rate"? They seem to be turning around the 15-22's they receive for repair in about 2 or 3 days from what I read. There may indeed be a large return rate, I don't know. But putting things in perspective on the numbers manufactured vs those returned, I doubt it is massive. I suspect that there is just a big demand for magazines. My 2 cents worth.
