I am planning to get a M&P 15 Sport next month and want to upgrade it with some Magpul accessories and I was thinking of going with foilage green. I haven't seen too many pics of AR's with Magpul foilage green accessories, so if any of you happen to have foilage green accessories on your AR, would you mind posting some pics for me to see? I'm still going back and forth between foilage green and sticking with all black and this may help me to decide. Thanks.

I am waiting on my trigger guard to arrive, but, I'll have a post up this weekend. Need to stop by the post office in the morning.

I swapped mine from black to fg with someone who didn't like what they had bought.

Here are some pics for you.

Here is my M&P with Magpul FG accessories. They took a little searching since not many people carry the FG colors, but then again there aren't many out there in this color either. I love the look compared to the other options.

Here is a daylight shot of my MOE that I switched to foliage green. I have an Elzetta light holder on it but need to get the G2 mounted.

I have in the photo and LAPG olive drab pistol bag. You can see the contrast.

Love the foilage green. Unfortunitly it was always out of stock and I got fed up,so I went with the OD green instead.

I know there is a big difference in price but if you are going to add all the Magpul accessories it might be as cheap to look into the M&P MOE. You would get the handguard, stock, grip, FVG, front and rear sites and magazine. It only comes in black or fde AFAIK. Then if you had to have foilage you could paint all parts, more time and expense tho.

Sorry typed faster then my brain could think front site is M4 A2 Post

You also get forward assist and dust cover. And I just noticed they are Mid-Length Gas System and come with The Art of Tactical Carbine Volume I & II DVDs from Magpul Dynamics

I would suggest going with an MOE version vs. the Sport model. As gdnagle pointed out, your going to spend almost the exact same amount once you have the other stuff added.

Seriously, think twice about making a "franken-rifle". And the DVD is well worth the $$$, IMHO, if you can't get to a training class.

Nothing wrong with a Franken-AR15. If you have some mechanical aptitude, common sense, and can follow build instructions you can build a good rifle at a significant savings.

The only MOE that I would choose over a 15-Sport is the newer mid-length gas system m&p 15.

Its one thing to swap handguards and such. (Looking at $50 for the stock, $30 for the handguards, $50 for the rear sight, another $35 or so for the grip... $165 + S&H)

Then you have the cost of the DVDs ($50) and other odds and ends. Maybe another $20.

When all is said and done that is another $300 on top of the $650 for the sport model.

Its when folks start swapping things like gas blocks, swapping upper receivers but trying to save money on the barrel.... etc.

ARFCOM and M4C are littered with tales of bad choices.

My rule, now that I have paid for the education, is to get what you really want the first time and not try to make it into something its not.

Don't take this as a put down of the Sport... that is a very fine carbine in its own right. But, it was positioned at a price point for a reason.

The websites you quote are also people who seemingly are trying to emulate one another and dont seem to have time for those of us who dont buy into the "list".
I am not following the idea behind trying to make something it is not. What are you referring to, trying to make a nice sporting rifle a nicer sporting rifle that fits a persons needs?
And what reason would you give for the Sport being positioned at its price point. Bring you 16" barreled rifle and come prairie dog hunting with me. I will show you a 16" barrel taking out little 2.5"x7" targets at over 250yrds all day long without wasting any shots or needing followup shots.
I dont go to the mentioned websites because I am not playing G.I.Joe with my rifles. Been There Done That and I bought the T-Shirt (just cant fit into it anymore) Thats fine for them but not for everyone. :D

What are these DVD's you are referring to?

Edit: My main purposes are non-competitive target shooting and having a backup weapon for home defense. I don't need a top of the line competition rifle, just something that gets the job done, which is why the price point of the Sport is appealing to me. I have no desire to spend $1000 on accessories for it. I may make small upgrades over time, but don't plan on spending too much doing it. I'd rather save for ammo.

They are the "Art of the Tactical Carbine" DVD's that come with the rifle gdnagle recommended. I myself do not think they are that big a thing but some people do and they have the right to think so.:D

Somehow this thread got off track and I am as guilty as the next for wandering...

Go ahead and change what you want to for the price your willing to pay. All I was offering was some advise that if you want something different, its often cheaper and less frustrating to get what you want up front instead of piecing it together.

Freebe that comes with rifle maybe it could be sold to recoupe some of the moe rifle cost. But moe only comes in Black and Flat Dark Earth. I have the moe and it was cheaper to buy it that way then to add everything moe I like Black. Could recoupe some cost by selling what is taken of the original rifle also to pay for moe parts.

Both of those sites I listed contain both valuable information and product review as well as horror stories of remarkably poor judgement.
As a S&W M&P15 owner those sights have done nothing but run down my choice of rifles. I tried to go to those sights when I first received my Sport. After enough uncalled for statements I quit going there. You can tell when a person comes here for the first time from those sights, one of the first things they will say is "please take it easy on me", the other sights may have great knowledge and I know they have people that know this platform real well, but it seems that they dont know civility and that a person has the right to have their own opinion. they also dont recoginize that not everyone can drop $1500 plus on this type of rifle, nor do they need to. We have a lot of knowledge and here we will walk a person through a modification so that they arent doing something in an unsafe manner to them or the people around them. These rifles are not rocket science. They are made so that the average grunt can take care of them and keep them firing in combat. And it doesnt have to be difficult nor does it require insults just because someone doesnt measure up to someone elses standards. If you want to point out a particular thread or something from over there that is fine. Just dont expect me to waste any of my time over there. They dont have anything I need.
