Sighted the sights in today but it seems I had to unscrew the front sights quite abit in order to lower the grouping. Now the grub screw doesn't make contact with it and the sight moves freely. Gonna have to figure something out for that.
Same thing on mine. I took the grub screw out. The sight pin is very tight in it's threads, and even after 500 rounds it did not move at all and is still just as tight. It's not going anywhere.

I am experiencing the same thing as you guys. I had to really jack up the front post to bring down the POI. I don't think it moves a lick though. By the way, I just got my 15-22 how do I tell if I got these or the regular magpuls?
Those are knock off's for airsoft use. For example, a clue "EOTech 557 Red & Green Dot Sight Scope for airsoft", and the shipping from Hong Kong.
The MagPul sights there are knockoff counterfit's also. For example the "Magpul MBUS Front and Rear sight" on the site, the clue for those is (after you click on the picture) the 'GreenBase Trading Co., Limited" across the picture and the shiping location from Hong Kong, and the 'GreenBase Trading Co., Limited" just happens to be a company that specializes in low quality knock offs whos actual manufactuing happens to be in China.
The Trijicon's are knock off's too, and a little pricy for knock offs as well in some cases.

Knock off. Sometimes its not so obvious. The first clue here for me is the price and knowing that Leupold doesn't license for sales of their products new below a certain MSRP precentage (I just happen to know that from working on counterfit imports seizures in the past) and this is way below that. My next clue is the silver letter etching and no Leupold medallion. The medallion is something all Leupold scopes have, and all real Mark 4 scopes are always engraved black on black and have the name "Leupold" engraved on the black ring.

It is a deal though for those budget minded and might work fine for a while in a 15-22 environment, but I don't recommend that you buy it.
In the world of conterfits and knock offs, the term "if its too good to be true..." is a real thing.

They are not "knockoffs." They are PTS sights, a division of Magpul.

A co-worker with a MOE version of the 15-22 looked at my PTS sights and said they looked exactly the same. The quality of mine are excellent. If they are counterfeit PTS MBUS sights, they did a damn good job.

So is there a difference in the polymer or are these just cosmetic seconds? Never heard of the pts line until now so just wondering. Can they take the same abuse as MOE stuff? I remember my paintball days and I was much rougher on those then I ever am on my rifles!

Google Magpul PTS--Professional Training and Simulation division (aka Airsoft). Although when the MBUS came online it looks like they discontinued the PTS sights since there used to be a budget sight set and now the PTS site lists the MBUS. You can find the old PTS sights on eBay in orange/white boxes vice the MBUS orange/brown cardboard packaging. If you go the PTS route your are ordering the "made in china" stuff.

- difference in the polymer?...who knows. There black plastic. Looks like the tough stuff. The PTS sights probably have BPA in the plastic and will give you cancer if you suck on them, the MBUS are probably ok to suck on.
- cosmetic seconds?...My sights look perfect. Nothing that would indicate they are seconds or rejects off the main production line. There are no excessive mold seams, surface irregularities, etc...
- Same abuse as a standard MBUS sight? I don't think I would put an MBUS sight through too much abuse. Again, they are only plastic and meant to be backups, to spend most of their time locked in the down position. If you want something to take abuse, get steel sights like YHMs or Troys.
So, what's the real difference. About $75 I figure. That's about it.
- MBUS = Made in USA w/union workers ~$15+/hr
- PTS = Made in China by kids ~3 cents/hr

As far as the abuse I was more thinking of the stocks and grips. I went ahead and ordered a pair of sights and an AFG so I guess I'll find out one way or another.

Thats the reason they are cheap, they are made for airsoft and only fit the basic form and function, they are basically cosmetic, however, they are not not made for use with real weapons with real ammunition. Thats the real difference. So while not specifically counterfits, they are comparable to cheap knock off's in many ways in terms of use on real weapons as they just were not made for use on real weapons with real ammunition.

Very true... but my guess is that airsoft equipment probably sees a ton more handling abuse than most 15-22s. Ever see those guys in airsoft competitions.... Yikes!
