Anyone here used the PTS stuff for their 15-22? I've bought a few things. I bought the MS2 sling, rail sling attachment, XTM rail guards, and the gen 1 mbus sights. I'm having a problem with the sights though. I had to adjust the front sight an insane amount. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363828484.705969.jpg I work offshore so I didn't have a ton of time to mess with it this time home. Thought about buying a riser for the front sight or trying the gen 2, but it kinda goes against the whole reason I bought them and that's to keep it cheap. I buy the expensive stuff for my Ruger SR556, the 22 is my guinea pig
Anyways, I guess what I'm getting at is has anyone else tried these with the same results? And also, thinking about trying one of the stocks. Anyone have luck with them?

The 15-22 is an outstanding rifle. Possibly best in class. For it to remain there, it needs quality equipment. PTS AFG, sure, no moving parts and is basically a solid piece of plastic. Sights or adjustable stock, never on my 15-22.

And no, you're not the first to have problems with PTS MBUS.

I would stay away from it all together. You get what you pay for. It seems like most people that use the PTS stuff on here end up with some sort of problem or complaint. It's best to pay a little more for the real thing than to end up buying twice. If price is an issue, you could always consider buying used. The EE usually has gently used or take off items for less than retail.

Price is kind of an issue. I spent $470 on the gun brand new, just can't see spending as much money on sights and a stock as I paid for the gun.

Leave it stock then. It's better left stock than to put that **** PTS stuff on it.

+2. I thought the stock one was pretty good, but PTS isn't just quite that solid. After borrwoing my friends PTS (taken off from his airsoft rifle) for a quick range use for a couple hundreds of rounds, I've broke down bought a pair of MBUS Gen 2 sights at the range. MBUS feels a lot more solid than PTS.

I guess you've never encounted a customized Ruger 10/22. :D

Real MagPul sights are $90 for the pair. The stuff for $20 on eBay is Chinese junk and all you do when you buy it is flush money down the toilet. Unless you absolutely have to have fold-down sights, the factory sights are perfectly fine as they are.

FWIW, I paid $390 for mine. The additions, not counting 16 magazines, come to a little over $300, including the optics. And that doesn't count stuff I've bought and then removed. :)

Haha, yeah you have a point there. I may just do without the sights. I bought a scope for it that I'll probably use most the time anyways. If I want to use the iron sights I can just put the factory ones back on. It's not like this is my SHTF gun. Just a plinker.

No offense to the OP, but could we find one thread about this somewhere, and tack it up near the top under "Frequently Asked Questions" or something?

I've had good use from both Gen 1 and Gen 2 PTS sights. One is marked such the other isn't.

Your results may vary.

Why do you need or want back up sights? What optic you using?

I'm currently using a R4700 sight on a R6500 gun. (that being said I have also used a R600 and a R1200 sight on it without issues)

I also use a PTS MOE stock because ITAR prevents me getting the real deal without, again, forking out thousands. I have no issue with the PTS stocks. There is no need for the full price of Magpul gear. PTS is for Practice Training and Simulation, that's pretty muc the definition of the 15-22......

TYSTYX That's true of any forum. I have yet to see one where people use the search function.

If people would learn to use the "search" feature, we wouldn't have multiple threads asking the same questions.

I searched but didn't find anything. Maybe it's because I'm using the phone app maybe? Idk

I'm using a NcStar Mark III 4x32. It's pretty good for the price $75
I wanted the backup sights just because I like using iron sights sometimes and the Mark III has a quick release so I could switch back and forth pretty easily.
Thanks for the info on the stocks. You kinda nailed it. This is my practice gun

That's what I do. I have my scope on UTG QD rings and I can replace the scope with the iron sights in under a minute and everything stays in zero. Now if I were doing a competition that would be another matter. :)

About all I can do is smile and think about the "Show Your" post. :D I like playing with the "hand me downs" from it's bigger brothers. :D I've had a few people look and say... That's only a 22 ???

Even on the 15-22,I much prefer OEM or "quality" made parts. Airsoft is made for airsoft. You get what you pay for.

Except PTS is not Airsoft. I just isn't combat/duty grade equipment.

Airsoft levels of equipment are things like plastic PASGT helmets and nylon "ballistic" gear.

PTS if for practice, training and simulation. I'll happily agree that Airsoft falls under Simulation, but the other two? Like I said it's pretty much what the 15-22 is. I'm willing to bet if you apply torque to the 15-22 from a PTS AFG or RVG you'll damage the 15-22 before the grip gives way.

PTS is the same as bulk ammunition for range days. It isn't what you'd run on a combat mission, but it does the job for training.

There is a reason PTS parts are pretty expensive, and that's because they are good quality parts. They are not top quality, but they have never claimed to be.

MBUS Gen 2 Front in Black looks like it's not as readily available at the moment (brownells has em for back order right now for $38)

Looks like about $150 to me for all 3.

I've never used the real PTS stuff or the super cheap patent infringing knockoffs but I got the impression that the real PTS stuff is in fact a lot better quality than the counterfeit stuff but as mentioned isn't really that much cheaper than the full on, US made Magpul bits.
