MAGPUL

I think what Kayback is trying to point out is that there are people out there (and on this forum) that will shun those that buy cheap parts for their rifle and then themselves go and buy the UTG version of a LaRue scope mount. If you are not seeing the duplicity that he's implying, I'm not sure it can be described any clearer. Face it, you KNOW these people exist.

Yes, thank you. That was what I was trying to say.

There seems to be a sliding scale of what is "acceptably" cheap and what isn't.

Ghost Soldier, in quoting your post I was not singling you out personally for choosing a UTG mount. Sorry if I offended you.

I never said I have a Leapers-UTG mount. I fully understand what he was saying, apparently you don't understand what I'm saying. All I'm saying is there's a difference in things that are cheaply priced that are still good quality and things that are cheaply priced and are a piece of ****.

I agree with you. I do not agree that the "Magpul" knock off's are all **** though.

Some are better than others, and I agree buyer beware.

I like UTG parts. I have several of them. I have UTG folding gas block sights on my AR15 and really like them. They work fine. To my knowlege, the UTG parts that I have aren't copies of anybody's products. A certain amount of copying goes on in all products. Look at all the AR15 look alikes.

I also like Magpul and thought at one time that plastic backup sights that could be purchased on the internet labelled "PTS" were actually made by Magpul or a subsidiary. They are not. I was cheated.

Magpul does have a PTS division, they don't make the parts (even though someone here once posted a link to a airsoft sight that said otherwise....except that airsoft company only sold the real full priced stuff.)

I blame Magpul and some of the other companies being ripped of in part for their own problems. The Magpul sights I bought were obvious copies. It took me about 5 seconds to find them on the internet. It would take a Magpul employee about the same amount of time to find them and another 30 seconds to send the offending retailer (in the US, if Magpul does indeed have legitimate patents and copyrights on their products) a form letter asking them to stop selling an infringing product. (I've been thru this in a company I worked for.) If the US retailers stop buying the fake parts, they will go away. The chinese importers can be stopped at the ports with an injunction.

If you have a patent, you have to be the enforcer, you have to keep your eyes open for bogus copies. The government doesn't have the resources to do the looking for you. There was a member here about a year ago who was running to Magpul, etc. everytime someone mentioned/bought knockoffs. That's nice, but it really is Magpuls job and if they don't care, why should we. I haven't seen that person active here for a long time.

There are copies of Magpul's excellent BUIS sights out there. I got suckered by a set. Whoever built the stuff I bought did a crappy job. They aren't even 5% as effective as the real stuff. The only thing they have going for them is that they kinda look like the real thing.

I understand the idea of trying to pay a bit less for accessories so you can get other things. It doesn't always work that way, though. If people want to buy them and use them, go for it. Maybe you'll get one where all the tolerances on the cheap parts happened to work well together and your sights actually are useable. Mine didn't.

Just a word of thought. It would have been cheaper to have bought a MOE in the first place. I look for a long tiome before I found one, bought if
off the intermet and with shipping,(mine was free) and transfer it was still cheaper than replacing parts. Just my thoughts. Now as for cheap replacement parts I have had both got rid or cheap one stayed with quility ones. You can not tell by looking at them and I did not use the cheap knockoffs so I can not say how well they work. Just don't try to sell the cheapes as original could get you in trouble. As per Magpul email Magpul does not sell their sights as a set only indivualy. The key I got with the cheapo's set did not last one turn on the front sight should tell you something
about quality. Just my opion others will very. Go with what you feel will suit your needs.

i just purchased the standard 15-22 with 25rnd clip. i am wanting to add the magpul floding sights but i am not sure which ones to buy, cheaper than dirt is where i am looking. also on this gun is it picatiny or weaver rails. will anything that fits a AR fit the M&P 15-22?

any help is appreciated.

Well I was in the same position as you, found a brand new set on ebay for $14 shipped! Just sighted them in today! I like them a lot better then the stock ones!

At $14, they are almost certainly Chinese counterfeit knockoffs, not genuine MagPul. Just so you know ...

Yup. Real ones are closer to $50 depending on where you get them. But I find my gen 2 knock off work well enough to spend the $30+ difference on ammo.

I use them a backup. my optic is my primary sight anyway.
