Maintenance question

I always pull the side plate on any new to me revolver, who knows what may lurk in the innards; especially of an older, well used piece. An ultrasonic cleaner will get gunk out of places you did not know existed and then put lube back in there. The ultrasonics work especially well on stainless weapons, all that black staining melts away. Once through the initial cleaning, I generally don't open them up again until a few years have passed on those not shot much. Regular shooters get the treatment once every year or two with regular bore and cylinder swabbing whenever shot.

Gunna1day, WD40 is not a lube but rather a Water Displacement (40th try to figure the darn thing out) solvent. If you can find chief38's suggested products down under, I'd stick with them.

Ok, thanks for that. Forgot I had a can of this stuff. It claims to be a solvent , lube and rust preventive all in one. And safe on all gun parts.
Should do the trick nicely.
