King's used to make an offset hammer for NRA single action Target shooting with a revolver. I have a Colt Officers Model Target that has the Cockeyed Hammer and Super Target Rib. I am thinking about doing up one of my model 14's to be a modern version of this. I got a line on a Bo-Mar rib that is designed to go on the stock barrel. I want to use a slim custom barrel (Maybe a Krieger) , The model 14 I have does not have the wide hammer I prefer for single action, but I was wondering about having a gunsmith weld up a little tab on the left side of the hammer to make a modern day "Cockeyed Hammer" The hammer in question is too old to be MIM. How hard would it be to weld a 1/4" or so tab on the hammer and checker it all together. I would think as long as the rest of the hammer had sufficient heat sinks on it it would go OK (heat sink putty????) I found an old court paper dealing with the Cockeyed Hammer.

I have also seen hammers that were heated and then bent but this seems less than satisfactory.
