I bet you didn't think you'd see that subject on a gun forum! :)

I just picked up an M&P Pro 9mm last week and I wanted to color in the engraved parts. I couldn't decide on a color, and I didn't want to mess the gun up while experimenting, so I decided to test it out on the magazines.

Yellow, white, and silver were the colors I tried. I also did a green, but it wasn't showing up very well on the black metal. I really like all three of these, but I think the yellow might be a little over the top. I kind of want it look like maybe it belongs there instead of something I bedazzled my gun with.

At first, I was leaning towards white so that it would match my M&P 22, but it looks like the white etching is starting to rub off of the 22 already. I also think the white seems a little too bright.

Now I'm kind of digging the silver (although it could have used another coat). It makes the emblems stand out, but it's also kind of subdued.

I think I'm also going to try a dull shade of yellow and green and see how those turn out.. I wanted to try green because of the color of the fiber optic sight, but as I said, the green I tried didn't show up much. Maybe if I lay down a base coat of yellow and put green on top of that, it will come out right.

My girlfriend's nail polish collection is going to be put to the test! Any other colors you guys recommend trying?

As a side note for anyone thinking of painting their guns with nail polish, I found that whatever the non-acetone nail polish remover wouldn't take of.. Hoppes #9 solvent did. I left a white haze on my magazine that I was getting concerned wouldn't come out after wiping it down with the polish remover, but the Hoppes #9 took it off.

I like that Presto Power. It doesn't stand out, but you know it's there and it also seems like it belongs there. :D

Well, Its not exactly a new subject around here, Any search of M&P picture threads will show many pistols with color accents on the slides. I went with gold myself!:D

Silver and Gold seem to be more subtle/subdued than either White, or Yellow.
If you like Green, try a Neon/Bright Green... Some companies (like Ruger) are using Green on their 'Zombie Slayer' models.

NAIL POLISH

I use it on front sight blades & to mark brass, a color that is easy to see for the sight & a color nobody else uses (hopefully) for the brass, that's about it. For cosmetic work, whatever goes with your purse I suppose.

Most of the time those that call something unmanly are the ones with the most to worry about.:D

try glow paint. might be good idea to see it on nightstand or if you drop a gun/mag in the dark etc..

I went with silver, stands out, but kinda blends in well. I've also got a bottle of copper that I think would look pretty good, just to lazy to try switching it. Guess I'll have to get a new FS to go with my copper polish, lol.

Well, I'm not an expert, but shouldn't it match your "pumps?" ... but do ya think the bad guy is really gonna care when all he can see is the muzzle?

I use the "Stealth Black", which only works when you put it on with the "Stealth Brush".

Well according to you guys, it looks like I'm going to have to get a silver purse, some silver lipstick, and silver pumps.. because my outfit just doesn't match my gun anymore!

Here is my new M&P Pro Series 9mm with a 5" barrel that I picked up last week. Also shown is his little brother, an M&P 22 that I picked up a month ago. My wallet hopes that I can stop at two M&Ps for now.. but we'll see. :) I've got about 2,100 rounds through the 22, and around 250 through the 9mm so far.. and love them both!

And I tried to get a shot showing both the fiber optic sights. I put a HiViz sight on the 22 last week so that they'd have similar sights when I take them both the range. I had trouble getting a good picture of both sights, but you get the idea. They're both green fiber optic.

Actually that's a great point.

I kind of want my pistol to look, well, like a pistol.

Testors gold and now Pentel PRESTO white out. The testors wipes off with a rem oil wipe just as a routine rubdown.

The white out seems to stay on with routine rub downs but either can be easily removed with odorless mineral spirits and no damage to fire arm.

Besides it looks cool, it's strictly a boredom thing for me.:p

I think it looks great.
The flat black "stealth mode" thing doesn't work on the perps anyway.
And you're a good sport about all the jabs. Good example of why we're all here: fun and to learn a thing or 2.

They both look great, but I think I like the gold better.. If I get bored again, I may switch the silver to gold to see how I like it on mine.

Changing the color was a nice distraction on a day off work, and it's easily reversed or changed if I get tired of it. And I agree, it looks cool. :)

I have to disagree: The 'stealth mode' is lethal on badguys.
It is intended to be.

ps. Sensible footwear can somewhat limit choices in other accessories. I would more likely select something in a more utility grade of fashion, and decorate my pistol accordingly.
You can do what you want, but I caution against anything higher than a low wedge. No heels, no gold or silver lamme.
Try to make the image suit the actual purpose, eh?
