Let's say you wanted to get a 410 lever gun, which one would you choose and why? The Marlin 410?? or the Winchester 9410??

While most of the Winchester's have been beautifully made over the years and are generally very nice and high quality guns, I have ALWAYS much preferred the simpler, stronger, less moving parts Marlin actions. I own 7 Marlins and while their finish might not be as pretty as some of the Winchesters, I find them great shooting guns, very reliable, and quite accurate. Up until last year or so when Marlin was sold and they moved down South, their CT service Dept. was very accommodating and did quality work when needed. Thankfully, I rarely needed it. From what I have read on line, their new employees in their new location are still in the learning process and have not quite gotten their act together yet. I sincerely hope that will soon change. Quite honestly, if I were to buy a Marlin today it would be a CT made gun from New Haven.

I'd second the Rossi, as it comes in stainless.

I've got a couple of their 92 rifles and they are my go to shooters in .357

I've looked at the Rio Grande in .45-70 and I'd say that it is much smoother than my 2nd year production .444 Marlin. I seem to be the only one in the neighborhood without a .45-70 and I'm starting to feel the need.
