Master revolver action package

Has any one had this service done by Smith and Wesson? They advertise this service in the 2008 cataloge. Says they tune the action and chamfer the charge holes. Any opinions welcomed.

I have had the Master Action done on a M19 and a M629. Very good work and with the express package they were back in a week.

My 627-2 is back at the factory right now getting the treatment. I do not know when to expect it back with the hollidays holding up the work.

I am very interested in what the result will be.

I had that done on my 65LS last October. I had to send it back twice before it would fire more than twelve times without locking (not the internal lock). Annoying to say the least. They paid for shipping both ways, I just had to drive 120 miles combined to the only UPS location that would take a gun.

I think I just have bad luck with gunsmithing though - seriously. Never a single good experience yet. Don't let my experience stop you. The others above had good experiences. I am considering sending my 4" CS-1 in.

I had it done on my 686-6 last summer. The whole process took two weeks and I'm very pleased with the results. The trigger is now the lightest, smoothest trigger on any of my revolvers and the gun is a dream to shoot. I'd say it was well worth it.

What are they charging for the "master revolver package" these days?

I had it done to my 586 recently and they did a great job on it. The trigger pull is slick (they use a Wolff mainspring) and it was well worth the $140 they charge. Go for it!

BTW, they've been offering this package for a while now. I first heard about it in 2000 but waited until '08 to finally get it done.

I have a 625-10 that had the Master Action Job done on it. Most people that fire it think the trigger pull is 6-8 pounds. The actual pull is 13 pounds. Smooth matters way more than weight.

I think it is the best bang for the buck in

I'm seriously contemplating having my brand new 686 Plus 4" sent in to S&W for the master revolver action package. I bought it less than a month ago but have about 1,000 rounds thru it already and probably dry fired it another three thousand times at least. With keeping it clean and a tiny bit of oil, it has smoothed out at least 25% from out of the box new. Anyway...

I was in an accident a couple years ago and became paralyzed in my right arm. Now I can only shoot with my left hand alone which is my weak side (was right handed) and I didn't exactly start shooting handguns until recently so my skill level needs improvement.

All this to say, my hope is that the package gives it a nice smooth feel (because that's just cool!) but more importantly I hope to retain a better site picture during the double action use simply from jerking the firearm less when squeezing the trigger!
